CB E.J. Underwood (transfer to Pikeville)

The New York Jets signed cornerback E.J. Underwood to the practice squad and released cornerback Manny Collins from the practice squad. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Underwood (6'1", 185) was originally signed by the New York Giants as a rookie free agent on May 13, 2006. He spent the 2006 season on injured reserve and was signed to the Giants practice squad on Sept. 2 before being released on Oct. 8.

The Hamilton, Ohio, native played three years at Ohio State before transferring to Pikeville College (NAIA). In 29 games (eight starts) at Ohio State, he recorded 54 tackles with 20 solos and one pass defensed and was a member of the Buckeyes' 2002 national championship team.

Bills Add Long and Underwood to Practice Squad

Buffalo continues to tinker with their roster with two games remaining in their 2007 campaign. A day after claiming offensive tackle Patrick Estes off waivers, the Bills signed a pair of players to their practice squad.

The club signed defensive end Khari Long and cornerback E.J. Underwood Thursday.

Underwood joins the Bills after being released by the New York Jets last month. The 6-1, 185-pound cornerback is a former undrafted rookie free agent that was first signed by the Giants in May of 2006. He spent the 2006 season on injured reserve and was released by the Giants on Oct. 10 of this year before catching on with the Jets for a month.

Underwood played his college football at Pikeville after transferring from Ohio State where he played his first three collegiate seasons.

COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Destroyers, presented by Germain, have signed linebacker Leroy Thompson, quarterback Perry Patterson and defensive back E.J. Underwood, Head Coach Doug Kay announced today.

Underwood (6-1, 185, Pikeville) will enter his rookie season in the AFL in 2008. He attended The Ohio State University and played cornerback from 2002-04, before transferring to Pikeville College. A member of the 2002 National Championship team, he played in 26 games with the Buckeyes tallying 25 tackles. The Hamilton, Ohio native has attended training camp with the New York Giants, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

Columbus Destroyers waive defensive back E.J. Underwood

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Destroyers have released defensive back E.J. Underwood, Head Coach Doug Kay announced today.

Underwood (6-1, 185, Pikeville College) played in two games for the Destroyers this season. He recorded nine solo tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass defended.

The Edmonton Eskimos announced Tuesday that they have signed import defensive back EJ Underwood and defensive end Michael Williams.

Underwood has spent the last three seasons as a member of the New York Giants, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills practice squads. Prior to that, he played his college ball at Ohio State for three years before transferring to Pikeville College for his senior season in 2005.
