CB Dominic Clarke (transfer to Illinois State)

Tuscarora's Dominic Clarke wrapped up his high school track career by capturing the 3A 400, while teammate Fabian Gonzalez was fifth.

They both ran on the second-place 4x400 team, but Clarke clearly aimed for taking first place, despite slipping deep into third place at the hand-off.

"I've done it before, I've come from behind," Clarke said. "I just don't know what happened. My legs just got heavy."

Clarke was also third in the 200.

The Tuscarora boys 4x200 meter relay team of Kevin Johnson, Jakarie Jackson, Fabian Gonzalez and Clarke won the 3A title in a scorching 1 minute, 27.83 seconds.

When asked for the name of a young player in the secondary that Torrence sees a bright future for, he didn?t hesitate to answer.

?Dominic Clark. His work ethic is incredible. You know he?s just a freshman right now and he?s going through his little freshman bruises--you know just learning the system. But once he gets a hold on how they want things done here, and he really buys into the system, I really think he?s going to be a great player.?

Anyone else do a double take on the #28 in the Buckeye secondary and think JT found some additional elegibility for Beanie Wells?
Watching that banged up secondary last night and the valiant effort by the 2nd and 3rd stringers made me appreciate the hard work and coaching preparation!
Look forward to seeing you next year Mr. Clark!

Absolutely, I was like who in the [censored] is #28. Hope I don't have to turn in my Buckeye card for that admission.

The subs came up huge last night. Coming in with a banged up secondary, and losing Chimdi against that offense, all I can say is great job young men, way to listen to the coaches, keep your head in the game in practice and follow the lead of the seniors.

The future is bright with guys like Dom ready to step up.

Sophomore cornerback Dominic Clarke, who has changed his number from 28 to 5, received some raves from Jim Tressel on Wednesday as the coach compared Clarke's maturation to that of former Thorpe Award winner Malcolm Jenkins.

Clarke was thrust into action in the Sugar Bowl last season and proved his worth on more than one occasion. There are two open cornerback spots this season, and for Tressel to take time out to make special mention of Clarke makes me think that #5 will again be a number to watch in the Ohio State secondary.

Dominic ran in the fastest Greek competition this past Sunday as an Omega Psi Phi, his Fraternity (The same one Malcolm Jenkins is in). He blew everyone away... first heat he won by 5 yards. Second and final heat, he slipped off the line and still finished far enough ahead to be able to look back at the others running (Although one of our guys did finish 3 steps behind). He's seriously built too... everyone just kind of looked on in awe.

You know, it's interesting... Crossing a fraternity like Omega Psi Phi is a 24/7 commitment. I wonder how he is able to keep up with football, academics, and crossing.
A lot of chapters make exceptions for varsity athletes.... I'm not sure if Omega Psi Phi does but I know my chapter kind of "dumbs-down" pledgeship since they are so busy. We have two varsity swimmers pledging right now and they are going through a less intensive pledge process.
