CB Dominic Clarke (transfer to Illinois State)

He might be too big for safety and we're loaded at LB. Nothing against him and I'm not ruling him out. Just as of now, I think the odds are against him becoming a starter.
He looks about 190 in those pics and I don't see him getting much bigger. He hasn't even practiced yet, how could the odds be against him? He obviously has a lot of speed and I can see him being a starter at either cb or s in the next three years.

I believe that Oregon's comment is regarding Domicone.

So Mike Adams is too big to play LT too?

The dude is 6-3 210. Too big to play for safety? Did Donnie Nickey tell you that or was that Sean Taylor?

Take it easy. I said "might". Taylor was a freak of nature and Nickey was a bit of a liability in pass coverage. Usually safeties that size are. If you're willing to give up some big pass plays for a more physical run stopper, then you can go with a bigger safety.

:Hence why Nate Salley and Brandon Mitchell both started at OSU.

And look who starts now. Anderson Russell and Kurt Coleman. Two guys who barely weigh 200 lbs. And look at our defense. The days of 3 full time LB's are gone. The defense is changing to keep up with the way offenses are changing.

Domicone is probably best suited for STAR. Clarke is so athletic and versatile I think he could play corner or one of the safety spots. And I think there's better depth at corner(especially if we get Joyner) than safety. That was my point.

BTW, not sure Brandon Mitchell is a guy you want to use in your argument. Great guy who gave it his all but not really an impact player.

I think Clarke is destined to play the star if he ends up at Safety. Whitner was great in that roll in '05 and thats who Clarke really reminds me of.

As for big safetys for run supprt I think that ideas kinda funny cause the better tacklers and better run support type safetys have been the smaller of the two under Tressel. Nickey was bigger than Doss. Salley was bigger than both Allen and Whitner. Lets forget about '06 and Russel is bigger than Coleman.

EDIT:

Okay after viewing the tape, I admit he could be a great safety. But not the star position, he needs to be designated to an entire half of the field and become the eraser that we've been needed. Or just keep him at his natural position of corner and let him lock down a receiver, it's all good to me :)

It's tough to think of Tuscarora's Dominic Clarke as not being the fastest in a given event, but he missed top seeding in the 200 by 2 hundredths of a second. It didn't matter in the end, as he bolted to a time of 21.91 for the victory.

In the 400, though, he was the top seed. Since Clarke started running the 400, he has never lost in a heads-up race. The only time someone beat him was from another heat, and that was in his first-ever quarter-mile race.

On Thursday, he was done in 49.95, which was slower than his seedtime, but fast enough for first.

"I was a little disappointed, because my 400 time wasn't fast today, but I ran my fastest 200, so I'm happy about that," Clarke said.

For his finale, he ran the anchor leg in the 4x400, overtaking the Patriots on the homestretch as the team won in 3:27.03.
