The stress on these kids is enormous.

Can't say stress can be blamed for this one. :p

(I know you didn't know what the incident was when you made the post)

Pure stupidity. I laughed when I heard what it was though, so I guess there's that. Why would someone do this?

The easiest answer that tends to me most correct in the case off college kids is... They were drunk and it seemed like a great idea at the time.

Lord knows how many times I watched my roommates do some of the oddest things when drunk.

This is an example of kids being kids....dumb kids at that. I'm sure Dom knows it was the wrong thing to do but most of us have done dumb things in our lives that we simply haven't been caught doing. Not condoning this but in the grand scheme of things, it's not something that is a really big deal.

It's too bad too because he was really coming into his own this year. I hope he gets his shit together.

Apache I agree. Just the thought of some jerk shooting at another person to hurt them and I am sure a great amount of fear and taking pleasure in it is disgusting. The act is childish but I think it speaks volumes of the character and quality of the young man.

Yeah I agree. This is just um, young adults acting like kids. It was the same in the Army when I was that age. We did some crazy things back then and most of us lived to tell the tale.

Tell him I said hi back. He could still be dysfunctional young man for all I know. If you know him personally and he is not, it great to see that he has matured. I mentioned him in my first post. It seems David has done everything else asked of him and has matured but I personally have no idea. It could be the case or he could have became better at not being caught.

Bottom line, IMO this is bigger then a silly kid being a silly kid. Taking pleasure it hurting people for sport or to laugh at that fear that you caused is not just a sign of being immature. I believe there are deeper character issues involved.

I realize I could be overreacting but the incident reminds me of this...

Understatement. You can diagnose "deeper character issues" to the point of calling him a "jerk" just solely based on one incident, having never met Dom, and without knowing all the details? He's a young frat boy who made a mistake. I'm not defending his actions, nor am I painting him as a saint, but you shouldn't insinuate that he's a sociopath. Especially if you don't even know if it was a paintball gun.
