Amos is 100% Buckeye...no official visits anywhere else.

I think he has a chance to contribute next year...one of those guys that you can easily forget about during the recruiting process but then can come in an contribute right away.

Best quote from Andre:

"Ohio State is the greatest place to play. The greatest atmosphere. Everyone, the players are unselfish."

Amos Discusses Summer Plans
By Steve Helwagen Managing Editor
Date: May 18, 2005

Andre Amos is one of the many Buckeye freshmen-to-be who will have a full schedule over the next few weeks. We caught up with him to find out his plans before heading to OSU. Click the link for more.

Ohio State signee Andre Amos of Middletown, Ohio, will be busy this weekend as the district track and field meet begins.

Amos, a 6-2, 175-pound wide receiver, will be competing in the 400-meter dash as well as the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams for the Middies.

Amos will graduate from Middletown June 4. He said his GPA will be in the 3.5 range. He has scored a 910 on the SAT.

This summer, he will play in the Ohio All-Star Classic and the Big 33 Football Classic.

“I think I’m playing in both of those games,” he said. “I’m not sure about the (Cincinnati) East-West game, though. I am very excited to play in those games.”

Amos said he also plans to make the two-hour trek up to Ohio State to work out on a regular basis.

“I will try and get up there every weekend,” he said. “After school is out, I’ll be up there from time to time. Right now, I’ve been lifting three days a week.

“I’ve been talking to (OSU wide receivers coach Darrell) Hazell pretty often. I came up to the Scarlet and Gray Game.”

More than a few future Ohio State Buckeyes were in action at the state track meet over the two day event and there also a couple of others participating that fans who follow OSU recruiting are aware of. To no one's surprise, Glenville won the team event in a big way and Brain Hartline came through in a similar fashion in his two meets.

Andre's interview from the ozone:

The first thing you notice about wide receiver Andre Amos is that his hands seem too large for his body. Not that he is small at 6-2, but Amos' hands are large, and according to reports, very sure and soft. For Amos, playing in the North-South game is something he really could not have envisioned four years ago.

"Actually I really wasn't thinking about this kind of stuff four years ago. I was just taking my time about it. I'm excited," he said.

"It's something maybe like a dream really. There's all these high-caliber athletes out here and you get to see them every day and be around them and see the things that they do."

Like Boone, Amos has heard the talk of OSU's chances at making a national championship run this year and is excited by the idea.

"That's more than ask for, to be a part of something great like that. When you win national championships, those kind of things last forever," he said.

"I see myself fitting maybe on the spread, four wides or five wides, just to get in the mix a little bit. I like most of the shorter routes, timing routes, that sort of stuff. Once I get it in my hands I like to make big plays, make things happen. I like the deep ball too," said Amos describing his game.

My biggest asset is probably my speed, and I think I have real good vision. I can see a lot of stuff, like people behind me or to the side of me, awareness. I run about a 4.4. I'm 6-2, 170."

Amos hopes to find his way to the field Mike Wachsman

Middletown receiver Andre Amos may not know a lot about college yet, but there is one thing he knows about his burgeoning career at Ohio State -- he wants to make a quick impact.

The 6-1, 180-pounder is playing in this weekend's Ohio North-South All-Star Game, and he sees it as a dress rehearal for the "real thing."

Middletown's Andre Amos is looking forward to playing in the North-South All-Star Game and to arriving at Ohio State."I really believe going against all these top players will help me some for when I get to Ohio State," Amos said. "I know that I'll be facing great competition there every day, so if I can get tested that will only help."

Amos grabbed 35 passes for almost 500 yards and found the end zone seven times for a team that wasn't a huge passing squad.

He has good speed, an eye toward hard work and seemingly wants to get better.

That's what coaches look for in a newcomer.

"The coaches there have told me that I need to work hard, and they aren't guaranteeing me anything," Amos said. "They told me it would come down to how hard I work and pay attention to things. If I do that, I have a chance to get on the field."

Amos was treating the week leading up to the North-South Game as one of fun and excitement. It's a chance to bond even more with his future teammates, and to get a taste of big-time football.

"Getting out here and playing again is going to be great," Amos said. "It will be nice to be playing with and going against some of my teammates at Ohio State. I know we can all play, and I think we can bring some great things to the team.

"Whatever the coaches want to do, that's what I'll do. If they want me on special teams, I'll do it. If they want me on the field on offense, I'll do it. I'm pretty sure I'll stay on offense, but you never know about things like that. Look at Teddy (Ginn). He came in as the best cornerback in the nation and now he's one of the best receivers in the nation. So you never know. But I'm excited to be part of it, whatever it is."

I wish I could have been at the Big 33 game, but before those pics get posted tomorrow... I better get his North-South game pics in there (especially since he shut down MM once he switched to him)

after last night, i don't think we will see him on offense at all. he is definately a keeper. i don't remember 1 catch against him.

he did show some shake on his INT, almost busted it big, looked like he ran out of gas though. is he a punt or kick returner?

By the second half I couldn't believe PA was still throwing his way. I don't think he gave up a completion the whole night. He need to get bigger, but once he does he is going to be a great CB.
