CB Andre Amos (official thread)

Agree'd, I feel pretty confident with our DB's already, which is odd considering how young they are.

Anderson has been given wonderful reports. We all know what O'Neil is capable of, and with another year of experience I think he should be ready. Jenkins he was shut down as a true freshmen. Amos, many of us thought he was better then Jenkins and shocked that he got red-shirted over him; well this kid could have played last year and it only sounds as if he has got better. Donald Washington I haven't heard much about, but others have described him as 'lock-down'. Grant is at the very least ready to help out on special teams this year, which means he should get in some minutes and expereince for upcoming seasons where he could prove to be one of the best of the group.

sounds like this group has the potential to rival that stallar group from '98 of Winfield, Plummer, Clements, and Ross... only they're all relatively the same age now as opposed to slightly staggered back then...

hmm... i have to take a moment to savor that. in '98 we had the luxury of having THREE NFL first rounders in the same nickel set... sounds like something from my PS2 dynasty...

HE GOT RIPPED OFF with the that great INT. HE made such a great play, he looked like a great WR to even make that catch/int.

I think it was Washington and himself who SHOWED some great speed to catch up with the BG RB who looked like he was gone for a TD. He's suppose to be the fastest on the BG team but, got caught from northern speed.

Hey guys does anyone know where I can get a video of Andre's Interception?? I was actually at the game but we couldn't tell and they didn't show a replay in the stadium, as most of you know. Anything would be a help. Thanks :osu:

Andre got hosed on the review. But, I was just watching the game again, and Amos just blew my mind on how fast he caught that BGSU RB on the long run late in the fourth. Granted, both he and Washington got the tackle at the same time, but Amos came out of nowhere. I would put him on Manningham for The Game if Manningham were ready to play, seeing as he shut Manningham down in high school.

I think Amos has turned out to provide some great depth at CB, but anyone who thinks they'll see him and Jenkins starting at opposite corner might not want to forget about Donald Washington. I like both of them a lot, but the staff seems to love Washington. Regardless, I think Andre will eventually start some for the Bucks.

Amos had some nice plays (3rd down stuff near the sideline, INT), and some where he struggled (couple of missed tackles). Nice to see him get some serious action to develop his game.

Amos will have a tough fight with Coleman for the nickelback position next year. I think he's as solid as Amos in coverage, and is more physical and a better tackler.

Washington & Jenkins are our starting CBs next year.

Amos starting to make plays

COLUMBUS ? Late in Saturday's Ohio State-Indiana game, Andre Amos drifted back, broke on the ball and made his first career collegiate interception.
Two weeks ago, Amos ? a redshirt freshman defensive back ? thought he had made his first pick at home against Bowling Green. But officials overturned the original call on the field.
Saturday, however, Amos left no doubt about his interception. As he trotted off the field, his teammates gave him high fives and slapped him on the shoulder pads.
The former Middletown High School standout didn't start this season on the field. But he has worked his way on it.
And now, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Amos is beginning to make a significant contribution.
The Journal's Jake Trotter spoke with Amos after Saturday's 44-3 OSU win.

Q What did that interception mean to you?
A It really meant a lot. Against Bowling Green I had one and they overturned it. But that happens. Sometimes you think, man, what if I don't get another one. I just focus on playing my responsibilities.
By far, that's my biggest thrill so far.
Q What's it like playing for the No. 1 team in front 105,000 people?
A Playing for the No. 1 team is like a dream come true. You really can't express the feeling. You wake up everyday, and even on days you're sick, you got something to wake up for and make you feel better.
The fellowship we have here, on top of being No. 1, is unbelievable.
Q It seemed that since the Iowa game you have gotten to play a lot more. Was there something that happened that gave the coaches more confidence in you?
A Here, at any college, you just have to wait your turn. And I knew that. The only thing I could do was work hard and do what I have to do. It wasn't really like going out there to impress the coaches. It's just about doing your responsibilities. Everyone has responsibilities. It's all about trust.
Q Who are some of your best friends on the team?
A My best friend is (redshirt freshman cornerback) Donald Washington. Basically, though, all of the corners.
Q I hear you like to fish and that you caught a 21-pound catfish two summers ago. Do you still get to fish much?
A Yeah, I mean I fish every now and then. I was supposed to go home today and fish with my dad, but I have a couple of exams coming up, so I'm staying here.
Q Do you still follow Middletown football?
A I follow the team. My little cousin (Middies senior defensive back Tyler Amos) plays for them. He calls me every night. I talk to him, kind of help lead him through the whole recruiting process, you know, get your school paid for.
Q It seems as though the Middies are beginning to really hit their stride following a couple of down seasons. What does Middletown need to do to be a perennial power once again?
A Really, we've always been blessed with the talented guys. But you've got to have the desire. You have to have the attitude to win. I mean, not really be cocky, but have a swagger about you.
I really didn't notice that until I got here. But you have to have it.
