Oh, I'd bet the body was in the trunk. But a body in the trunk does not mean you killed somebody. It means that a dead body was in the trunk. The State had the burden to show HOW she died, and who killed her. I think you can show that a dead body was in the trunk, but that is not enough to pull the trigger on a death penalty case.

I think our society has misplaced its understanding of the meaning of the "reasonable" part of reasonable doubt.

Similar to instant replay reviews in football, it seems that the higher the profile the call or the case, the higher the likelihood that common sense gets twisted in a pretzel and fucked in the ass by the people responsible for rendering a decision.

I was talking to some family yesterday and predicted that she'd be acquitted on any of the charges that really matter. She's gonna end up like OJ - after ten years of flaunting the fact that she got away with it she'll end up doing something stupid and finally get put away on charges and a sentence that get trumped up to make up for the prior miscarriage.
