the one thing not being a cavs fan that sticks out to me is lack of killer instinct.
seems to me that a few things management has done different than i would do.
a young unporven coach. granted he has been a great teams as an assitant. if they want to take it to the next level they need to upgrade. how many coaches have won nba tittles in the past 15 years?
i would like to see lebron surrounded by a few over the hill veterans, even if the actually contributions are minimal. teaching a kid what it takes to win is very important, who this guy or two is i dont know...but thats why i dont make millions.
its been stated by nearly everyone that a roster uprgrade is due.

and lebron personally.
he is much better player when he gets the ball early in the shot clock.
the cavs also need an identity whether this will become lebron on the wing in the triabgle or a pick and roll i dont know, but they need to have a more bread and butter offense then what i see now.
and his defense needs to step up. on ball, help and off ball.

all the negatives out there, hes still a young kid. and has improved a lot in his 2.75 years in the league.

Yeah most of this has been hashed up in the 70+ pages of this thread. j/k

I agree with everything you said, besides the whole vetran thing. We have
veterans on the team like Snow, Z, Henderson, also Hughes is getting up there in years.

I honestly think that the roster while not the greatest should be a very productive one and is at least a team that should contend in the playoffs.

They are a pg and a bruiser on the D end away from having an unbeievable roster, but most teams do have weaknesses unless you are talking Pistons and Spurs, but even those teams have some weaknesses.

As for the killer instinct that is a major problem. Even know LBJ is very young, and I have hope he will develop it, he seems to have the farthest thing away from it.

yeah i really dont read this thread much. usually only if things are going bad.

its stupid, but i really think a team like this could benefeit from a guy who could teach the team and especially a lebron what it takes to win. everyone knows what it takes to win, but having a guy who can show the work ethic and intangibles will help lebron a ton. i dont know the off court personalities of the nba enough to peg that guy. but i firmly believe that he needs someone to aid him if they want him to become the guy everyone dreams of.

Even though he didn't have his best night last night, I can only wonder how a player like Kirk Hinrich would llook like playing for the Cavs. Imagine that guy dribbling all over the place, penetrate and dish. If the Bulls had any inside presence at all, that guy would be a multiple all-star player.

As for bringing somone in, I would think a guy like Danny Ferry should be able to help, and also Scott Williams works out and practices with the team alot. I would like to see an offensive minded coach come in as an assistant.

I don't think Brown is doing that bad.

He is a stud, no way the Bulls give him up.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bulls make a run at Gooden this off season.

If we could get a bruiser like a Fortson, or someone in the draft, I would make that trade in a heart beat and have Varejao and that guy as the pf and then have Hinrich as the starting PG.

That would easily make us a title contendor.

After I checked out Fortson's salary I changed my mind. He makes more than 5 mil a season. Maybe after his contract runs out next season it would be a good move to sign him or trade him for Snow (if only the Sonics needed another PG). IMO the Cavs will need to take a PG with their first round pick this year and hope he turns into a Parker, Nash, Hinrich type of player.

I agree that we need a pg in the first, unless we could trade for a guy like Hinrich.

I just played around with it in the trade machine on ESPN.com and Snow for Fortson would work, but the Cavs would probably have to sweeten the pot for the Sonics to take on Snow's contract. Snow has 3 years left and Fortson has 1. It's a moot point because the last thing the Sonics need is another PG. Damon Jones and Luke Jackson for Fortson would also work. This off season they could possibly sign and trade for Gooden if the Cavs can afford him.

If Fortson and a PG(anyone better than Snow, that can fill the starting spot(not a DJ type player)) we should be looking at a very very good team.

We can afford to lose Gooden and Snow.

anyone have insight into why we didn't go after Jimmy Jackson? does he not sound like a great filler .. from leadership, experience and talent .. for a backup role going into the playoffs
