That was the best 4th quarter the Cavs have had in a long time. Every time the Bulls tried to go on a run the Cavs stopped it. Still think Flip Murray was a great pickup for the Cavs as long as he stops shooting 3's that don't win the game. Marshall finally got out of his funk, hopefully.

Yeah I think Murray needs to stick to 15 footers.

Also what has happened to Z and his jumper. He used to be automatic and lately he is missing them more often. We need that shot b/c it brings their center out to guard it.

Z gets hot and cold. He's just cold right now. At least he's still putting up points in the paint. Murray's giving the big me a lot of good passes going to the hoop. I'd like to see him get more time at the point, especially when Hughes gets back. Snow and Murray seem to be the only two guys who can get the big men the ball in scoring position.

So the Cavs almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, but at least they were able to win. I want to go back and laugh at everyone who said that Flip Murray isn't good and won't help the team. He might not be the best shooter sometimes, but he can drive to the hoop, play some d, oh and win a game with a big 3. When Hughes gets back I would like to see Lebron, Hughes, and Murray on the court at the same time. All 3 have the ability to make plays. Lets just hope the Cavs can win a little easier against the Bulls on Sunday.

I was one of those, and still am. Murray drives well and assists pretty well. He's shooting 41% and will be below 40 before you know it. He's a damn turnover machine, too. The three he hit to win the first Chicago game was his first as a Cav, after missing his first 9. He hit another tonight, but missed 4. He has to know he sucks at three's, so why keep taking them?

He may be the best option they currently have but no way should he be on the floor with LBJ and Hughes, when he returns, unless he shoots only on drives to the hole.

The bottom line is this team will never amount to anything as long as Snow is the starting point.

Murray single handly won that game against the bulls he took the ball to the hole when we needed and then hit that big 3.

He has also opened up the floor a whole lot more and has been getting the ball into players hands that need it.

I don't see how anyone can not like this guy on our team. He just migh of saved us from going in the tank. We lose that game in Chi-town and we might still be skidding, you could just see that we felt like could win going down the stretch tonite.

I mark this one up as a very successful move by Ferry.

I don't see how anyone could say it wasn't a successful move. Trade a player that wasn't playing for a player that is now starting and helping win games = a good move. Murray isn't a great or even very good shooter, but he is good at going to the hoop, getting other players open looks, and wreaking havoc on D. I don't even know if he's a good defender, but he does seem to make a lot of plays on defense.
First round of the draft this year the Cavs need to take the best PG they can find that can either shoot really good and play D or drive to the hoop and play D. It would be nice if they could find the next Tony Parker or Steve Nash.

I honestly can't ever remember who we traded for him, so it must not of been that big of a deal.

Another little beef I have is why is Grahm no longer playing. They gave him the deal for the rest of the year and now they don't play him.:!

James gets loose in win

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

<!-- begin body-content -->CLEVELAND - By March, most teams are what they are, but give the Cavaliers credit for working for some re-invention.
One game doesn't make a stretch run, but the Cavs showed some lessons have been learned on Sunday. It was far from a masterpiece, but the Cavs' 91-72 dispatching of the Chicago Bulls showed some growth in some problem areas and promise for better results.
Cavs coach Mike Brown and his star, LeBron James, have been hearing it from all sides of late because of long periods of bad offense in crucial situations. In other words, there have been some plain bad fourth quarters.
The table was set again against the Bulls as the Cavs (34-26) held a fragile 63-60 lead going into the final 12 minutes. Thoughts of lots of dribbling from No. 23, little offensive movement and another winnable game in jeopardy were abound.
Brown vowed that his team would show improvement after finally getting a practice Saturday -- there had been only one since the All-Star break due to a spate of seven games in 10 days -- and on this he was true to his word. Using Damon Jones, Eric Snow and Flip Murray as the primary ball-handlers, the Cavs were able to free up James to create offense from different spots down the stretch.
They got the ball to him in the post, got it to him on the move in the lane, and swung it to him off screens on the wing so the Bulls couldn't set up easy double teams. The results were profound.
After scoring a total of 14 points in the previous five games in the fourth quarter, James broke free for 16 fourth-quarter points on Sunday to turn it into a rout. He was 7-of-10 from the floor in the fourth, capping one of his classic box-score stuffers with 37 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
``I used the whole court tonight,'' James said. ``My teammates did a great job of getting it to me in spots where they couldn't double-team me or (the Bulls) didn't know where I was going to be.
``We did a great job of moving our offense and moving me.''
It wasn't just when James was putting it in the hoop that he was effective. With freedom to drive without constant double teams, James got into the lane and drew defenders from the perimeter.
The result was plenty of open looks from the outside. Donyell Marshall took advantage, making three 3-pointers in less than three minutes to kick off a game-defining 17-2 run.
All three were courtesy of James' passes.
Saturday's long workout also allowed the Cavs to tighten some defensive screws as well.
The Bulls (26-33) led at the half and for much of the third quarter but it was largely due to a string of long jumpers.
Chicago shot 55 percent in the first half, living off long bombs from Kirk Hinrich (15 points), Ben Gordon (17), Luol Deng (15) and Darius Songalia (14).
In the second half, the jumpers with Cavs' hands in their faces stopped falling as the Bulls shot just 34 percent and managed just four baskets in the paint. When they tried to get inside, the Cavs were sniffing the ball, picking up 10 steals and blocking five shots.
The Bulls scored just 30 points after halftime and finished with a season-low in points.
Anderson Varejao helped clean up all those misses with a season-high 13 rebounds, nine in the second half. Drew Gooden pulled down 11 rebounds to go with 13 points.
The Cavs polished off a four-game season sweep of the Bulls, the first time they've done that since the 1998-99 season.
``The practice did us some justice,'' James said. ``It was awesome how we were in the practice yesterday and translated it to today.''

LeBron is finalist for U.S. basketball

Monday, March 6, 2006

CLEVELAND To no one’s surprise, Cavaliers forward LeBron James is a finalist for a spot on Team USA.

USA Basketball on Sunday named 23 players who will have a chance to play at this year’s world championships and at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The field includes 21 NBA players and college player of the year candidates Adam Morrison of Gonzaga and J.J. Redick of Duke.

Other potential team members include Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire, Dwyane Wade, Gilbert Arenas, Shane Battier, Chauncey Billups, Chris Bosh, Bruce Bowen and Elton Brand.

James is one of six finalists who played for the U.S. at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Eighteen have previous USA Basketball experience.

The U.S. will hold training camp in mid-July and compete in the world championships Aug. 19-Sept. 3 in Saitama, Japan.

HERE TO STAY? Newly acquired guard Flip Murray is giving the Cavs several reasons to think about signing him during the off-season. He averaged 12.2 points in his first five games and hit the winning 3-pointer in Thursday’s 92-91 win at Chicago. “He can play pick-and-roll, which I like to do, get in the lane and get to the line,” Head Coach Mike Brown said. “He knows when to go to the basket and when not to. His athleticism really helps out a lot.”

FLASHBACK Murray’s game-winner against the Bulls marked the second time in the eight years the Cavs won a game on a 3-pointer in the final five seconds. Lamond Murray also hit a winning three against New Jersey in 2002.

ADDED ADVANTAGE By winning the season series, the Cavs hold tiebreakers over Central Division opponents Indiana, Milwaukee and Chicago. All three trail Cleveland in the Eastern Conference playoff race. “Any time you win a series against anybody in the same conference is a big thing, especially if you’re in the position we’re in,” Brown said. “We haven’t won anything, we haven’t done anything, and we haven’t proven anything. You never know what’s going to happen down the stretch. But if you have any type of advantage at all, it’s good.”

GOODEN RETURNS Power forward Drew Gooden was back in the starting lineup Sunday against the Bulls. He missed Thursday’s game in Chicago because of flu-like symptoms.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Brown and Bulls Head Coach Scott Skiles celebrated birthdays Sunday. Skiles, the third-youngest coach in the NBA, turned 42. Brown, the league’s second-youngest coach, is 36.
