Post Defense was a major issue against the Spurs, and will be one against the Pacers, Pistons, and Heat as well. Who is going to guard Jermaine O'Neal, Rasheed Wallace, Tim Duncan, or Shaquille O'Neal on this team?

Wild Thing is probably the most athletic big man when he gets healthy. They will probably have to mix it up on guys like Shaq with Marshall, Z, Henderson, Hamilton, and AV when he gets back. Did you mean Ben Wallace or Rasheed? I think Marshall and Gooden can do ok against Sheed. The Cavs will have problems with the big athletic guys. Hopefully AV will be able to match up well with some of the dominate big men down the stretch. Z isn't a good defender, but he is also a hard matchup defensively for other teams. He has amazing hands for being 7'3".
The biggest problem that I can remember about the Spurs game is that Tony Parker did anything he wanted to. I also think the Spurs played a great game that night. The fact that the Spurs got dominated by the Wizards, who the Cavs just whooped on last night shows that the Cavs aren't as far away as they looked in game 2. I think February 13 will be a much better game at the Q.

True that on Tony Parker. But, there was absolutely no help defense from the post guys who were too concerned about staying with TD at all times. And when TD did get the ball down low against Z or Gooden, you just knew it was two points.

The thing with Andy is that he is impatient and undisciplined on defense. Can't question the effort, but he overcommits and gets into foul trouble a lot. Other than Ben Wallace and Shaq, I don't think we want to be giving up free throws to those guys.

Rasheed is a major matchup problem for any team, especially the Cavs. Drew does not want to play D on the perimeter, and that's exactly what he would have to do.

AV will be the guy to guard those players.

The big thing with Z is that , while he gets burnt by the smaller, quicker centers, he's one of , if not the best offensive rebounders in the league. He mus have a vertical if 8", but he's a machine on the offensive boards.

Hughes forced too much last night, perhaps he felt pressure to show the Bullets what they missed out on. Then game against Memphis he was the player of the game. It's going to take a few games, but he was definitelythe right guy to pick up to compliment LBJ.

I still don't like Snow, even though he hit 3 big shots last night.

Hopefully Mike Brown has been working on that in practice. Marshall is probably the best guy to defend Sheed.

Those are all good points. I guess we'll have to hope that at some point the Brown defense will kick in and we'll see more improvement in their defense. We are still seeing better d than we ever did the last few years.

I agree. The D is much improved. But you can't coach Z's feet to be quicker. And it's going to take some great coaching on Mike Brown's part to light a fire under Drew Gooden's ass to make an all-out effort to be a good defensive player. Drew has the talent, but I want to see the desire.

Andy has no where to go but up with his work ethic. He's going to improve every game. And he is definately coachable on the defensive end.

Well you guys all make good points, but the thing that killed us against the spurs was total lack of O' in the second half and pts in the paint. The Spurs probably had 50.

That game was just a total collapse after a decent start.

I'm not going to get too excited about this start because I remember the good start last year, and what happened after that.

I am excited to see the game against the Magic on Friday. The Cavs have put up better numbers in every team category compared to the Magic...point per game (102.4-84.4), FG% (47.3-41.3), 3PT% (37.3-35.3), FT% (82.2-74.6), rebounds (44-42.7), assists (19.3-14.9), TOs (14.9-15), steals (7.8-5.9), and blocks (5.1-4.1). If they contain Francis and Howard, this game should be a blowout...

Cavs will easily take care of the Magic on Friday. It's almost come to the point where I'm not at all worried about playing inferior opponents at home - or even any opponents at home. It's the road games that I worry about. This team needs to be winning at least 50% on the road this year - No Excuses!

The Cavs need to win a game like this to show that they won't have a letdown after a big win. Saturday at Philly is an even bigger game being the day after the previous game and away. The Cavs were bad at second games in 2 nights and away last year so that should be a big test.

Good call exhawg. Saturday is the REAL early test to see if this team has gotten better. Pilly is an inferior team, on the road, the day after a home win. This is the type of game that cost the Cavs a playoff spot last year.

Last year, the Cavs went 2-7 in the second game of a back to back where the game was on the road. (Yes, I did just look that up).
