It's hard to believe but they have the 2nd best record in the East, even after that bad spell.

It was a nice win over the Bulls. They have some decent players and aren't the pushover they once were. The Bulls went wild on the offensive boards last night. If that happens tonight, they could be in trouble.

It's certainly not good playing at NJ on the 2nd night of a back to back.

Yeah, but the Nets did play last nite too against NY.

Tough loss tonite, but not surprising. The Nets seem to have the Cavs' number, and that's because they attack the basket. Screens kill this team. They just don't rotate and switch very well. They don't fight through the screens, the help defense is pathetic. As soon as one player comes over to help, his man is left unguarded because this team refuses to rotate. And if the guy doesn't come over to help, it's a layup.

Does anyone else seem to think that Mike Brown is the most uninspiring coach they have ever seen?

He stands there, always has this John Cooper look on his face. He doesn't show much fire at all. He just shakes his head alot.
He came here with the rep of being a defensive guy. Yet, the defense is still pretty bad. I don't get it.

I am not saying he won't be a good coach, I just feel he needs more fire.

Brown is much like a rookie feeling his way. I think it was a very good hire b/c in a way LBJ can teach him what he wants to do and then Brown offers suggestions. I think the D has shown great strides.

The game wasnt on here so I didnt get to see any of it. From the looks of the score most the nite they got dominated. LBJ had a nice nite, but no one else seemed to come ready to play. I know I saw stats at the end of the 3rd quarter and Gooden didnt have very many.

I think whenever Gooden shows up on the Offensive end this team is very good.

AP Bill Kostroun RUNNING HIM OVER New Jersey Nets guard Vince Carter knocks Cavaliers guard Eric Snow to the floor en route to the basket during the first quarter of Tuesday’s NBA game in East Rutherford, N.J. Snow was charged with a foul on the play. Carter scored 21 points in the Nets’ 96-91 win.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Richard Jefferson stole the spotlight from Vince Carter and LeBron James.
Jefferson scored 28 points in another outstanding shooting performance, and the New Jersey Nets extended their winning streak to seven Tuesday night with a 96-91 victory over James and Cleveland Cavaliers.
The focus was on the matchup between Carter, the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, and James. But with Carter limited to 30 minutes because of foul trouble, Jefferson was 9-of-11 from the field, a night after going 8-for-8 in the Nets’ 109-101 win at New York.
“Vince is our primary scorer and that’s his role,” Jefferson said. “When he goes down, it’s not a surprise that we score with a lot of crazy shots or play out of our heads. We’re just going out there and playing aggressively and good things are happening.”
Carter scored 21 points. Jason Kidd had 14 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, and Nenad Krstic had 13 points for New Jersey.
“It’s just nice to see we’ve grown,” Nets Coach Lawrence Frank said. “We are getting better.”
James had 31 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, but Cleveland had its six-game winning streak snapped.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 21 points, Larry Hughes had 16 and Eric Snow 10.
The Nets seemed on their way to an easy win until the Cavaliers, led by 7 points from Ilgauskas, went on a 12-0 run to cut the Nets’ lead to 89-83.
“We didn’t want to get blown out or get embarrassed, being that it’s an Eastern Conference team,” James said. “We picked it up.”
New Jersey finally scored on a pair of free throws by Carter with 2:22 remaining, and he followed with a basket to give the Nets a 10-point lead.
James and Hughes made 3-pointers in the final minutes to trim the New Jersey lead to 93-89. Carter made one free throw with 21 seconds left and Snow made a layup before Kidd closed out the scoring with a pair of free throws.
The Nets overcame a slow start to take a 29-21 lead after one period. James scored Cleveland’s first 7 points of the second as the Cavaliers cut the Nets’ lead to 33-28.
New Jersey regained control and closed the half with a 56-41 lead. Jefferson paced the Nets with 17 points, including a buzzer-beating jumper after James was called for an 8-second violation with 7.2 seconds remaining.
The Cavaliers opened the third quarter with a 13-4 run, sparked by seven points from Ilgauskas, while New Jersey missed its first nine shots. Carter picked up a fourth foul with 8:35 remaining and sat out the remainder of the quarter.
Jefferson ended New Jersey’s field-goal drought with 5:52 left on a 3-pointer that gave the Nets a 64-54 lead. Kidd followed with a basket that restored New Jersey’s double-digit lead. Kidd later added consecutive 3-pointers as New Jersey finished the quarter with a 14-4 run and an 80-62 lead. “We can’t come back against a team like that being down 18 points,” Cavaliers Coach Mike Brown said. “That’s tough to do.”

LBJ had a nice nite, but no one else seemed to come ready to play.

He had a nice nite offensively, but he had more than his usual defensive lapses. Lebron simply cannot guard a Richard Jefferson or Vince Carter with the Nets' movement on offense. Hughes' defense on Kidd was also quite pitiful and lazy in the third, which killed a mini-rally.

Like I said I didnt get to watch the game, but I know what you are saying. The sad part is that they had started to pick it up on that end of the court, and that was why they went on the 6 game win streak.

Man if this team starts to play D, we could be in for a nice ride this season. When Varejao comes back I think that could help us tremendously b/c right now, no one really steps over to stop the penetration.

Z is could but the help side defense isnt what it should be.

Absolutely. The guy never stops moving and hustling. I think he sets an example for what other players should strive for. He'll pick up a lot of fouls because he's a little undisciplined with his hands, but I wouldn't want him to slow down on that account.

I can't fault Z for his defensive shortcomings - he's just physically limited in that regard, but he does put forth the effort.

I'm hoping that's its just the Nets that make us look that foolish on defense with their style of play. The next game is extremely important so this team does not begin another slide.

The difference was they played aggressive defense, and we didnt, while still getting foul calls. That one player was all over Damon Jones, grabbing him and slapping him and shit, so that when he does his normal leg kick thing, he knocked him down. There was a definant home court advantage going on last night.

No doubt, but I've gotten used to that. NBA officials are a joke.
