What happens with Jones will dictate where we are with our PG's, it seems like the knicks are interested in Snow so thats a plus. But, Dickau may sign before the heat make there decision on Jones. And if the Heat resign Jones after Dickau signs elsewhere then were going to have to settle for our second tier of choices i.e. Watson, Blake, Pargo

Dickau close to signing with Celtics

celtics.bostonherald.com/...leid=98856

The Celtics' point is becoming a more crowded place by the day. According to sources, the club is on the verge of signing 26-year-old veteran Dan Dickau.

Barring a trade to loosen the logjam, the 6-footer will be joined in training camp by holdovers Marcus Banks and Delonte West, second-round draft pick Orien Greene and rookie free agent Will Bynum, who was signed yesterday to a two-year contract (with a guarantee on just the first of those).

Director of basketball operations Danny Ainge had said he wanted to add some experience to the position, and the acquisition of Dickau will do that - barely. The Gonzaga product has been in the league three seasons and has been the property of six NBA teams, playing for four of them.

Dickau got his best chance last year after an early season move from Dallas to New Orleans. In 67 games for the Hornets, he started 46 and averaged 13.2 points and 5.2 assists in 31.0 minutes. He has career-highs of 28 points and 16 assists.

While the Celtics have included Banks in trade talks over the summer - mainly if it would help move an undesirable contract - it is quite possible they will begin camp with five point guards and see how the situation shakes out. One or more could then be dealt at a later time.

After deciding not to re-sign Gary Payton, the Celts found a modest stock of points on the free agent market. Those still available at the end of this week also included Earl Watson, Damon Jones and Brevin Knight.

As for Bynum, the 6-foot package of energy from Georgia Tech did well at the Vegas Summer League. He's been more of a scorer than a true point guard, but the Celtics liked his toughness and work ethic and believe he could grow into the position.

Man it is basically Jones or we are going to be stuck with with Snow as our pg.

Another rumor floating around is the a 3 way trade that would send Snow to the knicks, Crawford to the warriors, and Fisher to us.
Yeah saw that rumor on the cavs site, but that would be a pretty bad trade for us.. Sure Fisher can hit the three but his contract his almost similar to Snows and is way too much for us at this point.. I say our order of priority is Jones, Dickau, and Watson.

Crazybuck,
Funny story (well, not funny if Snow is the starter). Michael Redd had an event at the Schott last night. There were 8 NBA players there. Redd, Funderburk, Dwight Howard, Jake Voskul, Snow, Eric Strickland, Luke Ridenaur and Alan Houston. They paired off each of the players to teams of 2. Each team had a minute to hit shots all over the court for different point values. A layup was 2 pts and a 3 pointer was worth 7. Bottom line is Snows first shot was a layup and he missed it bad, not even close. Ugh.

......The NBA free agent market slowed to a trickle last week as other players and teams waited for Finley to make a decision.

Once he signs, the race will begin for teams to sign the remaining free agents. That list includes Indiana big man Dale Davis and Minnesota small forward Latrell Sprewell, both of whom the Pistons have spoken with.

Davis' agent Chubby Wells said Davis will wait for Finley's move before deciding between Detroit and Cleveland. The Cavaliers intensified their interest in the veteran over the weekend, and the Pistons also have an offer on the table should Finley choose another team.

"Detroit's the front-runner," Wells said. "Everything is stuck right now as we wait for Michael Finley........."

Azubuike update

Much to the relief of several e-mailers, it appeared there would be no obligatory Randolph Morris note this week.

Then came word that former UK player Kelenna Azubuike switched to the SFX agency. Of course, Morris jeopardized his eligibility by associating with SFX prior to the draft.

NCAA rules prohibit a college player from entering into a written or oral agreement with an agent. Morris's chances of regaining his eligibility rest on how the NCAA interprets his relationship with SFX. What's known is that the agency arranged a pre-draft workout for Morris with several of its acknowledged clients, made a statement to the media on his behalf and was noted as his contact on a list of players and agents distributed to NBA teams.

Azubuike has signed a partially guaranteed contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

There have been similar rumored deals involving Marty Andriuskevicius, John Lucas, Filiberto Rivera, & now Kelenna Azubuike. I wonder just how many wink, wink deals the Cavaliers have out there that we don't know about.
