Is there any reason Wally wouldn't matchup well with Hedo? He's giving up a couple inches in size, and I know you don't really want him out there for 30 minutes, but he seems like the guy best equipped to deal with him. Throw LBJ at Lewis and use a combo on Howard.

Also, I understand making Howard beat you, but if he gets in close, foul him. I was shocked to see he only attempted two free throws last night. If Lebron is guarding the 4, you've got Z, Andy, Ben, and Joe to throw at Superman. Foul him if he gets the ball down low.

Thats what I'm pretty much saying. Z and Varajeo leaves a huge mis-match b/c Anderson can't guard the perimeter. Hedo has a pretty slick game. He shoots well, so you have to play the shot, but he can put it on he deck. Anderson can't play the perimeter.

I really think the most effective defensive line-up would be a combo of Z and LeBron or Anderson and LeBron. Let Wally or Sasha defend Hedo. They'd each be giving up size, but at least those guys are equipped to defend the perimeter. And again, I don't think you get hammered on the boards by going small. You still have Z or Anderson on Howard, and Hedo and Lewis float anyways. They get all of their boards on long rebounds.

The team got almost nothing from Z, Szczerbiak, and Wallace in game 1. Gotta believe that Z will have better shooting days, but when he's missing open jump shots, he's not helping since he can't stay with Howard.

The Cavs need to use all of their fouls on Howard. He's lucky to make 60% from the line, so don't let him get easy dunks. His post up game won't kill you, it's his offensive rebounds that do thte damage. It doesn't matter if Smith, Wallace or any other bench players get in foul trouble - they need to hack him hard and/or wrap him up.

Stan Van Gundy, who I was ready to fire a week ago, actually did a couple of good things from Orlando's standpoint. He recognized that J.J. Redick wouldn't do him any good, so he kept him on the bench. And during the comeback, he told the team that Orlando was battle-tested and the Cavs weren't, so they should be confident when the game got tight.

And I'm finally settling this bet and creating one for Game 2.

I am starting to think that this might be the curse of Nick Mileti or was it Ted Stepien.

Re: who was playing defense on Howard as was mentioned above why do the own the shoot 2 free throws. Of course, they may both of them but the point is if Z, AV, Wallace, or even Williams is guarding him when he gets the ball foul him before he dunks it. That was just stupid defense.

Re: Z I have never been a big fan of his especially playing with Lebron. The guy can barely get up and down the court and about the only thing is good for our his picks and pops and that's about it.

I agree, We should go small. LeBron on Lewis, West on Turk, Mo on Alford and then Wally/Sasha on Lee/Pietrus. Heck, you can even go with Gibson more, having Gibson on Alford, Mo on Lee/Pietrus leaving Lebron & West to deal with Lewis/Turk.

I see nothing wrong with going 1 on 1 with Howard and making sure you keep the 3 point shooters at bay. With rotating Z & Andy on Howard they can use some fouls on him and you still have Ben & Joe in case we need more fouls.

Also, this helps out offensively. Howards is forced to guard our big on the floor so we can move him out of the paint or set him up on pick n rolls. Plus when LeBron does his 20 seconds of dribbling out the shot clock at the top of the key he will have 3 shooters around him.
