Cavs 2010-11 season (official thread)

I think we've seen you need TWO studs to win it all.

MJ/Scottie
Shaq/Kobe
Kobe/Pau
Dwade/Shaq
Duncan/TP or Manu
Hakeem/Clyde

Pistons being the one team in the last 20 years or so that did it as a "team" IMO

Pau isn't really a 'stud' but a very good player. That second player can be had AFTER you get the #1. Let's get the #1 player then we can hunt for the #2.

With Bitchmade gone, Jent will be freed up to spend more time with Hickson.

Hickson + jumper = SUCCESS.

I always thought JJ seemed like he had the talent to develop a mid-range jumper. Just needed to work on it.

He already has a nice looking shot. Practice will make perfect. Having plays called for him rather than running around causing havoc will help as well.

if you've gone to any cavs games last year, jent and hickson are constantly out before warm ups even start putting work in on his midrange jumper and some other various post moves. it really amounts to jent yelling at him quite a bit about consistency and good feet.

I actually envy the hopeful talk I'm seeing in this thread. The Pistons have no cap space (barring some exception I don't know about), so there's no chance of improvement for next year.

How many of the Cavs' players have been playing under their potential because LBJ was dominating the ball? Put another way: any chance that there will be enough improvement in the remaining players to finish above .500 and make the playoffs? Most of the hope I'm seeing is related to rebuilding, but I'm curious if the complete teardown is necessary.

I think most of us here would agree we have enough to make the playoffs next year. But, if you are thinking ultimate goal and long term, what's better? Finishing 7th or 8th in your conference every year, making the playoffs, getting swept by the #1/2 seed, and then having a non-lottery pick in the draft every year....OR...having a couple down years where you miss the playoffs but get a future star to build your team around? Outside of the Pistons in 2004, I can't think of a team in my lifetime that won the championship without a superstar. (And I'm 24 btw)

everyone should also remember that we could have the 12th slot in the draft and still hit the jackpot and end up with the #1 pick...so tanking as bad as the nets did last year wont get you a guaranteed #1 pick...so i hope we still make the playoffs this year which we should

Best thing would be to focus on the future and develop players that are going to be cornerstones in the new system. Make the focus this year on getting better and putting pieces in place. If we make the playoffs we make the playoffs. If not, we don't. Right now, however, is the time we decide who will be here over the next 3-5 years and who won't.

Can someone tell me something good about Al Jefferson... I don't understand why we would even think about trading for this guy.... but what else should I expect from a Cleveland Team....

were not going to get him but:

25 years old, averaged 17.1 PT's, 9.2 REB, 1.8 AST, 1.3 BLK in 76 games last year...missed 6 games total...i know he was suspended for getting a DUI

ive watched him alot and i've had him on my fantasy team past 3 years so i pay close attention to his stat lines....hes pretty tough to guard when he gets in the paint and is pretty much a double double machine...had 36 pts, 14 REB, 2 BLK, and 1 TO in a game last year....knee is a issue and had complete ACL surgery on it in 2008-2009

if we acquired him we still wouldnt be getting total size (hes only 6'10) but we would be getting more depth for hickson and verajo...i would love seeing Big Al and hickson play together

He's put up some nice stats on some pretty bad teams. His defense is average at best. He has four years left on his deal and I just don't see the Cavs identify him as a definite piece they want going forward but he is a possibility but it is more than likely he ends up in Utah or Dallas.

I don't know, I haven't seen him play much. I would be content with the Cavs going with what they have and see what they can do. They could use another big on the bench, but I don't think the roster is as bad as many seem to think it is. If Scott puts in a better offense guys like Mo, Jamison, and JJ should all be around 20 pts per game with Andy and Parker around 10. I wouldn't underestimate the desire of the Cavs roster to prove that it wan't a one man show.
