Cavs 08-09 Season - Central Div Champs (official thread)

That was a really fun game to watch. This regular season has been a real treat.

That dunk by Hickson and the block at the other end were SICK. It's too bad they didn't replay the dunk. His timing and athleticism were magnificent - most bigs would've only been able to tap that ball out.

All that said, enjoy the ride, just don't take it for granted. I don't know how many of you are Tribe fans or can remember the 1995 season, but that team was just walking through everybody until the postseason. Went 100-44 (won the division by 30 games), had a STACKED lineup, tremendous starting pitching and a lights out bullpen. Swept the BoSox in the division series, then they labored with a spunky, upstart Seattle team in the LCS and ran into a veteran, very talented Atlanta team in the WS and lost in six ([censored]ing David Justice). I hope I don't have to endure that heartache again. Getting swept by the Spurs sucked, but that team wasn't supposed to get that far and the high of beating the Pistons cushioned the fall some. The expectations are in another galaxy this season.

I really can't argue any of that. I was there for all of it, Indians fan, Cavs fan, Panthers fan, and our beloved Bucks. The only team I've ever seen win a title in pro sports was my Carolina Hurricanes, and I'm hardly a hockey fan. I'm beyond humbled. The last time I talked a huge game for a sports team was the 2006 Buckeye team. My biggest mistake, and my last. Even the Panthers (who I believe should've won the Super Bowl this season) all I said about them was "Watch out, this could be special." Honestly I've learned my lesson, and I'm sorry for coming off cocky, but this team is flat out impressive.

Lakers lost, +2 for best record in NBA...

Since the Lakers have the tiebreaker I look at it more as the Cavs have a 1 game edge. Ending with the same record will do them no good. The Cavs need to get home court throughout the playoffs. Beating the Lakers will be hard enough even if they get 4 home games. I really hope the Blazers can stay in the 4 or 5 spot in the West so that the Lakers can pull them in the second round.

They still have a handful of tough games. @ Orlando, home to Boston/San Antonio/Detroit (Tue night) aren't gimmies. Like you exhawg I am thinking 1 game ahead and we need to win at least 3 of those 4 IMO.

I'd love to get Ben back for the Orlando and Boston games. Give me 6 hard fouls and 15 minutes a game and I'll be happy. The Cavs are deep enough with bigs that they could use Ben as a thug for the rest of the season and playoffs.

Cavs' Ilgauskas allows 8-year-old to keep milestone ball

CLEVELAND -- The case of the missing basketball took a heartwarming bounce.
The ball Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas used to score his 10,000th career point turned up in the hands of a local youngster who left with it after it was thrown into the seats at Quicken Loans Arena following a March 21 game against Atlanta.
Ilgauskas, who hit the 10,000 mark early in the first quarter, was hoping to find the ball and keep it as a memento. There was even an outcry for its return by some local media outlets.
The 8-year-old boy's mother contacted the Cavs to say her son had the ball and wanted to return it. But the 7-feet-3 Ilgauskas, as gentle a giant as there is in the NBA, told the youngster to keep it as a souvenir.

Lakers go down to the Bobcats. I wonder if they are hoping to rest up at the end of the season an don't care about home court or they are just playing that bad right now. Of any team in the league the Lakers probably think they can win in Cleveland. It would be nice to get everyone some rest in the last few games if the Cavs can keep this lead.
I really don't want Detroit to end up in the 8 seed. I'd love to see them start playing well and pull a first round matchup with the Celtics. Detroit, Orlando, and Cleveland would be too much for anyone to run through in the playoffs.
