Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

We should be ready by the second round of the playoffs- which is where that'll need to happen anyway.

I like Boobie over Sasha still cause he wasn't exactly spot on in his short time this year. 6th man is good, but I'd still rather have Pavs in that position.

I think Boobie is too small to start along with West. Boobie could start next to Hughes, but Brown likes a taller lineup. West and Gibson are just too small to play much together. If he isn't the backup PG we will be stuck with Jones, which I doubt.
My bold prediction is Pav's comes back in the starting lineup tomorrow for Wallace who I see sitting out a game or two to rest his back. The Cavs can go with a smaller lineup against the Nets and Wizards. This weekend when Wallace comes back Brown will go to the bench and Pavs will stay in the starting lineup.

I realize Brown likes the bigger line up- but I'll take the more efficient shooters.

I have always thought this way- and when Hughes "Mr. Brick" was around- I still thought we should start Boobie over him.

Although, I couldn't think of a better 6th man.

Just play him.

Hughes is 6'5", West is 6'4". Not saying that I don't agree with you that Boobie won't be in the starting lineup, but there is only an inch difference between Hughes and West. I like Boobie coming off of the bench to provide some instant offense, much like DJ was supposed to do (and occasionally does).

It isn't that I wouldn't want to see West and Boobie together, but I just don't see it happening. My main thinking is that the Cavs never really had a real PG until West. Boobie is the next closest, and he is a much better option than Jones. That's why I see West and Boobie splitting the PG duties. Pavs and Wally can play SG and Brown can backup Lebron. Jones will see some time when they need an extra shooter probably when they go with 1 big and an extra guard.

West is 6'3", not 6'4"

Sure, Gibby and West will play together some, but not to start a game, which was where this started in the first place.

Mr Potato Head is going to have to work on his juggling.

Mr. Potato Heads job just got extremely easy- as soon as we're all healed up.

If we're down by 3 in a game now- he has so many options it's rediculous.

Now we fans can actually enjoy not fearing our bench- too. That'll be new and interesting.

Pavlovic anxious to return Cavs could get him back from foot injury tonight
By Brian Windhorst
Beacon Journal sportswriter

Published on Wednesday, Mar 12, 2008
INDEPENDENCE: The timetable for Sasha Pavlovic's return from his serious foot injury didn't have him returning to the floor for another two weeks or so.
Pavlovic, however, doesn't feel there's any time to waste.
Since being cleared to run at the start of last week, Pavlovic has been in a rush to prove he's ready to return from the left midfoot sprain that sent him to the sidelines Jan. 23. He was cleared for full contact over the weekend, and impressed the Cavaliers' coaches and trainers enough in Saturday's and Tuesday's practices that he is hoping to get back on the floor tonight, when the Cavs visit the New Jersey Nets.
''It hurts a little bit when I go right because I am squeezing that part I hurt, but they told me it is going to be like that for a
couple more weeks,'' said Pavlovic, who has missed 23 games with the injury. ''I have to play with the pain, but I feel very good.''

Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James raises his game

Wednesday, March 12, 2008 Mary Schmitt Boyer

Plain Dealer Reporter
When Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry remade his team on Feb. 21, LeBron James talked about having to step up his game while his new teammates adjusted. Of course, he already was shouldering the burden created by the team's unending rash of injuries, so it was difficult to imagine him playing any better.
But he has.
In the 10 games since Ferry traded Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Donyell Marshall, Ira Newble, Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown for Ben Wallace, Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith and Delonte West, James is averaging 33.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. That scoring average is almost three points per game over his league-leading season average. He is shooting 49.8 percent (117-of-235) overall, 37.5 percent from 3-point range (24-of-64) and 75.2 percent from the line (82 of 109). All those percentages are better than his season averages.
@StoryAd
He scored 50 points at New York on March 5 and had a triple double against Portland on Monday. He has led the team in scoring in each of those 10 games, in assists in seven of those games and in rebounds in two.
Cavaliers coach Mike Brown hardly knows what to say anymore. Just when he thinks he has seen it all from his young star, he sees more.

Szczerbiak advises Cavs fans to just enjoy the LeBron James show
Wednesday, March 12, 2008
BY Chris Beaven
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

INDEPENDENCE Playing against LeBron James, Wally Szczerbiak never got to enjoy the show.

"You're ... just trying to stop him, devise ways to keep him out of the paint," Szczerbiak said.

Szczerbiak now sees the futility of that effort most nights, as he enters his third week as James' teammate.

"No matter what you do, he's got a counter for it," Szczerbiak said Tuesday after a workout at Cleveland Clinic Courts.

The Cavs return to action tonight at 7:30 when they visit the New Jersey Nets, losers of six straight.

The Cavs have won five of six and are trying to settle in after last month's blockbuster trade brought Szczerbiak, Joe Smith, Ben Wallace and Delonte West.

Cavs' Snow out 4-6 weeks because of knee injury

Wednesday, March 12, 2008 3:20 AM

ASSOCIATED PRESS
Cavaliers guard Eric Snow likely will miss the remainder of the regular season because of a sore left knee, just the latest medical misfortune in a season of bumps, bruises and bandages in Cleveland. Snow, who underwent surgery on his left knee just before the season opener, is expected to be out four to six weeks because of arthritis-related symptoms in the knee, the team said.

I just hope they aren't rushing him...

As for Boobie 2 more weeks would be about the scheduled return time when he went down...That would be about 4.5 weeks and they said 4-6...

Man we are really going to miss Eric Snow...:tongue2:

In all honesty I hope Coach Snow continues to attend the games.
