Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

The only problem I had with last night's game was I thought that Brown kept LBJ out of the game too long at the beginning of the fourth quarter. I know that James has played many many minutes and need some rest but I don't believe that I have ever seen him sit out for that length of time in one stretch. I know that Lebron need some rest for the playoffs but aren't we also trying to position ourselves in the standings. Just my take.

Probably more to do with playing in Boston tonight than resting for the playoffs. IIRC they were actually playing well for most of the time he was sitting in the second half last night. Lets hope the refs are fair tonight.

IMO Brown thought he could steal this one and was looking ahead to Boston tonight...

Yesterday was a reality check... it is going to take some time for this team to adjust and play together.

It didn't help that Z was out. Z helps so much by forcing the other team to react to him as a presence in the paint. I really hope he can play tonight or it might get ugly.

Speaking of ugly, that is my conclusion seeing Andy and Ben in the game at the same time. They really hamstring us on the offensive side of the ball. And for them to play defense together they really need practice time together so they can get on the same defensive page.

That also made us look lost out there at times. Andy is rusty and throwing in new front court teammates with him just multiplies that.

I think that will be the greatest part of this trade. We finally have guys coming off the bench that don't need LeBron there to help them score. This will allow us to rest LeBron for longer periods over the rest of the season to keep him fresh for the playoffs. As I really think he was tired in the finals last year even though he will never admit it.

But besides that now our 2nd team is much better than most other team's 2nd unit. So instead of watching leads crumble while LeBron is out we will actually see them get extended. And that is how teams can win alot of games.

Dead legs, back to back on the road...No reason to worry about this game IMO...We are still without everyone, Z coming off the flu, and 4 other guys we are breaking in, and Wally can't find his shot...

I honestly think our two best offense guys from the perimeter are the two guys still out with injury, and while we can still score without boobie and Sasha we will be that much better with Boobie's outside scoring and Sasha ability to slash to the hoop...

We'll be alright.

This is these guys 3rd game together, when they gel though, GET OUT THE WAY BITCH!

I like this team, we have "it".

I do think we have a VERY legit chance at a championship this year too.

Soon as Boobie comes back, we should be playing better together, and his shot with Wally- very dangerous.

No rhythm for Cavs Celtics' physical play makes things difficult for new teammates in second loss in row
By Brian Windhorst

BOSTON: If the Cavaliers see the Boston Celtics again this season, they are going to need to have themselves a lot more together than they showed Wednesday night. And that goes from the top on down.
As of this moment, though no prediction is safe in the NBA, the Cavs and Celtics could meet in the second round of the playoffs. In fact, it was this thought that helped to prompt the Cavs to make over their team with last week's trade.
But the new guys and their new teammates are still figuring each other out, and that was painfully obvious as the Celtics handled the Cavs 92-87 to send them home with a two-game losing streak.

LeBron is youngest to 10,000 points He is ninth-fastest and is fewer than 400 points away from club record

BOSTON: It seems every few months or so, LeBron James sets some sort of record or passes some benchmark, even though he's just two months past his 23rd birthday.
This one, though, seems to carry a little extra significance because of the number: 10,000.
Wednesday, James became the youngest player to reach 10,000 career points at 23 years and 59 days, beating out Kobe Bryant by about a year. He is the ninth-fastest player in NBA history to reach 10,000, doing it in 368 games. By comparison, Michael Jordan did it in 303 games, Wilt Chamberlain in 236 and the NBA's all-time leading scorer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, did it in 313.

LeBron James hits milestone, but Cavs fall to Celtics
Thursday, February 28, 2008
By JIMMY GOLEN
AP SPORTS WRITER

BOSTON LeBron James hit a milestone. The Boston Celtics hit their shots.

Advantage Celtics.

James returned from a first-half ankle injury to score 26 and become the youngest player in NBA history to reach 10,000 points, but Boston got 22 points from Ray Allen to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 92-87, on Wednesday night.

"When you have an off-shooting night like this, it's tough to pull a game out," said James, whose 7-for-24 shooting sank the Cavs to 38 percent from the floor. "Especially against the best team in the league."

Kevin Garnett scored 18 points with 11 rebounds to help Boston win its third straight and improve to 2-2 for the season against the defending Eastern Conference champions. The Cavaliers were playing their third game with four new players acquired in an 11-player, three-team deal at the trading deadline.

"They're so new, we really didn't see them," Celtics Coach Doc Rivers said.

Gawd last night was fugly. This team really needs a few nights off so they can get some practice in. You can tell the new guys only know a few plays and against better teams (now that they have seen what those plays are) will be able to counter them. It is when those plays are countered you can see the offense just shut down as the new guys don't know where they need to be.

Thank god Mike finally got ejected but it was one game too late. The game against Milwaukee was much worse.
