  • Was wondering if you folks thought it would be a nice 'feature' to have a new forum for business networking, where one could look for work, contacts, job related information?

    almost 1000 BP members have logged in within the last week alone... I see so many other alumni groups from other universities help each other... that I just wonder if there is an opportunity here.. to help... as well as formalize an activity that already occurs on the site albeit in an unstructured way... various threads on related topics seems to pop up consistently... just IMO

    Out of those 1000 log ons, how many are from people like me that log on 5 or 6 times a day? How many of those people are regular posters? I know we have a fairly large number of members but you have to remember that not everyone that is a member is a regular poster or for that matter posts at all. I'm not trying to shoot this idea down, I think it's a good idea... I just don't think it'll be very sucessfull.

    Couldn't a thread serve the same purpose?

    The PaintChip forum needs to be closed since the bugs were never cleaned out entirely and I believe the fad passed...although I probably just reopened that can of worms.

    Anyway, just interested in hearing thoughts as to why another forum is needed as opposed to say a single thread.

    I like the idea but just not sure about another forum to navigate/moderate.

    I just looked at MEMBERS LIST... sorted by last visit date... then looked at entries logged on since last Friday... and it was almost 50 pages of 20 members per page... so that's not # of logons... that's members...

    I'm not pushin... just wondering if it would be of help to folks...
    ===================

    I wondered same OSU21... but wondered how convoluted a single thread would get... and if anyone could follow it... if HH needed someone for web site help... and someone else wanted to know if someone knew somebody at METLIFE for a networking contact... and someone else wanted to know how folks may have handled a supervisor or employee problem... or knew how to handle a work problem... how would that work in a single thread? dunno...

    Nice idea, but this doesn't sound like a decision that needs to be made right away. Why not start with a thread (or a couple for job posting vs. networking) and see what happens? If it really takes off, that would be the time to think about something more extensive.
