Career networking thread

Should we add a career management / netwroking forum?

I don't see the harm in trying, let's beta-test it. It seems like we've already had a couple threads that have essentially been networking and/or career oriented, in addition to other threads where posters' respective expertise have come in handy. If it fails, then do away with it.

I mean come on, NJ and Deety have already agreed to do all the legwork... :)

I have zero problem setting up a new forum and I would guess 3yards and Hubs feel the same way although I'd need to run it by them...

However, one potential holdup will be the "most recent post list" that appears...in order for the new forum's posts to not appear on that list and clog the tOSU stuff, Clarity would need to manually hack in the code. We cannot do that part...perhaps when he has more time, we can do this, but until then, this idea will have to go the backburner for now.

I will get the forum idea to Clarity, Hubs, and 3yards though...

As NJ suggests, let's see how the poll goes. The forum is a good idea if there is enough interest. As scooter says "Buckeyes helping Buckeyes" is what makes being a Buckeye a great thing. There is only one reason I can think of NOT to do it. That (as 21 touched on) is the increased complexity of the site as we add more forums. Much like files and folders on a hard drive, it becomes more and more difficult to navigate as more folders and subfolders are created. Before long it becomes difficult to find the information you are looking for. That doesn't seem like much of a problem for those of us on BP daily, but it can make the site cumbersome for the casual surfer. Just something to keep in mind. Let's see what the poll tells us about interest and go from there.
