Sorry to bump this thread, but its title seemed most appropriate...

Anyone have any family experience with lymphoma? My (basically) father-in-law just got a diagnosis and will be going into The James asap, but as of now the Dx is that a lump on his head is "lymphoma", which seems to have a number of different types.

I suppose we're looking for ways to remain optimistic, and fortunately we do have The James right here in town, but this is really the last thing we wanted to hear. This guy is a true Buckeye, graduated here in the '70s, maybe the best man I know--literally. Thoughts and prayers...

I'm assuming non-hodgkins?

If it is caught early not only are survival rates are very good these days (90-95% over five years for stage I-II) but it is quite treatable & the chances of completely curing it are also high. If he is in decent overall health (non smoker/drinker etc) it definitely helps his odds.

I don't know for sure, but I was assuming that as well. He works outdoors and is strong as a bull, no smoking but definitely enjoys some drinks. Thanks for the info.

Just found out a co-workers wife passed away yesterday. She was diagnosed with lymphoma (I believe) just a couple of months ago. It spread like wild fire, and she was about to start chemo next week. :(

Cancer claimed my mom and my dad both. Also claimed perhaps the bravest person I ever met in person-Stephanie Spielman. I met her when I was undergoing tests at Ohio State University hospital for Traumatic Brain Injury.

Magnificent woman, kind and heroic. One of my life's heroes.

To any and all afflicted, my thoughts and prayers!

Just found out a friend passed away last night from her fight with breast cancer. Not unexpected, as it'd gotten pretty serious, but it's still kinda shocking just because she was only in her 30s. My heart breaks for her husband and young son.

Had lunch with a neighbor Saturday. She was admiring the work that had been done to my face after the skin cancer had been removed with a Mohs procedure and a follow up plastic surgery using a skin flap from my forehead. She admitted to having a "Lumpectomy" procedure, like my sister. It seems many have been touched by cancer and will share their experiences.
The conversation started with me asking if her Achilles was completely healed. Ouch!
