Per OHSAA the Ohio kids are not allowed to participate in these drills while wearing pads like everyone else. So they are probably off to the side working against each other in shorts and t-shirts...

And helmets...Just saw a couple videos of the no pads guys doing 1-on-1's with helmets on. I don't recall them doing these drills with helmets on last year, but I could be wrong.

I also read somewhere that kids from LA were also not participating in the padded drills. Why those rules?

They're saying Kyle Trout struggled... :(

There's a couple videos posted on Vine by Tom Luginbill of him in 1-on-1's & it looks like he's having trouble keeping up with some of the speed moves.

Friend

How big of a recruiting advantage is it for a team to send multiple commits to The Opening? For instance, does Ohio State have an advantage by having 9 commits and several targets in attendance?

Jeremy Crabtree

@Friend: I'm actually working on a story about that from this week. There is no question that Ohio State is being noticed by all the other kids out here. There are a ton of OSU kids and fans here. Like any kid committed, they're doing what they can to talk big about their school. But I also think the influence is a little bit over-rated in some capacity. Talking to several kids, they've said that some times the recruiting pitches are just noise that they ignore. But certainly, I think it helps plans some seeds, too.

Could he have said, "I don't know," with more words?
