Noticed Beals is recruiting A LOT more middle infielders lately. That’s a big shift in strategy from the glut of corner outfield/ 1B types in years past. Erwin, Ernst, Dezenzo, Fisher, and Karaffa are all middle infield commits in the 18 and 19 classes. I’m not sure he’s recruited that many in his previous 7 classes combined...seriously

For what it’s worth, yes I do. I think MIF guys are generally more versatile than corner OF type guys. Over recruit MIF and hopefully a couple of those guys stick plus you’ve got depth and more versatility.

It just seems like we miss a lot on 3B and MIF especially when it comes to defense. Recruit more guys there and give yourself a better chance at finding a guy who can hit and defend? Honestly, 3B has been the real problem postion. Other than a few stellar weeks from Nick Sergakis back in 2016, it’s been bad over there defensively for years. But with excellent recruits like Dezenzo(who could play SS,3B OF) and TJ Brock(potential two way guy) in the fold, things appear to be looking up at the hot corner. Recruiting in general is really trending up....ok I’ll stop now...that’s a whole new topic :)

love your input and its nice to have someone else posting in the OSU baseball threads. whenever you have the time please share your comments on recruiting because id like to hear them

Thanks Brody! I used to post here on the baseball forum a lot, but I just completely forgot about this place. Until recently, I haven’t posted on Buckeye planet in probably 3 or 4 years. Which is weird cuz this is like the only place there is to talk Baseball. There was also a great twitter account “Buckeye Baseball Guy” but I found out that he passed away a couple years ago. :-(

We had a recruiting thread going here years ago. I’ll see if I can find it and I’ll bump it up with some new info.
