Yep, I'll take it!

The Sat TV FINALLY had the game on so no net buffering to deal with AND a win! It def weren't a thing of beauty, but it still goes inta the dubya column. And hey, just enough scores to know I had a few shots too.

All in all a good day to be a Buckeye. Even a Buckeye in Ukraine.

:oh:

It's always nice to get a win, but in a season like this one where we're not eligible to play in January, the key focus for me is the improvement and development of the units and the players week to week.

I leave this game with a ton of coaching and personnel questions on the defensive side of the ball. Outside of the CBs and a couple guys on the Dline, I'm not seeing much improvement week to week. Would be wonderful if a LB or Safety could step up at some point and stop "being average" as Urban would say.

Honestly, some of the pursuit angles and tackle attempts has me wondering if some of these starters are even average..

PLayed golf this AM, and then listened to the remainder on my drive back into the city on the radio. Man, what is up with the defense??

Struggling with the basics. Going for the killshot on almost every tackle.

Offenses disappearing act in the 3rd quarter didn't help.

On the plus side, they got six sacks, so they got pressure today. Not sure how good Cal's line is, though...

Good news is we won't face another team with a player as fast as #5. That's what happens when we come out and are aggressive from start to finish and we don't sure tackle. If we tackle then the defense doesn't get nearly as gashed.

I'm also starting to wonder if the back 7 is as good as we all thought as well. Bryant needs to keep his head up and stop going for huge hits and just get people on the ground. I'll forgive him since he Iced the game away for us though.

Offensively it's clear we had a difficult time adjusting to what Cal's defense was doing. I thought for the most part we were coached today on both sides of the ball. Thank god for busted coverage and 3 missed FG's, I'll take it tho

Whew.

Well, this team is mediocre right now. There really isn't any other way to put it.

The LBs and the D line simply disappear at times. Coach Meyer gave the 2 seconds speech over the summer and then you have guys (Etienne Sabino leaps to mind) that quit playing before the whistle and then watch as the RB breaks one. 3 carries for 156 yards? That guy for Heisman!! The offense is really struggling and Coach Meyer really isn't kidding when he says that there are a dearth of play makers on offense. Braxton is one, but he looked lost today. The O line had some serious break downs and the D was outplayed today by a bad Cal team.

But I'll take the win and hopefully the players learn from today's mistakes.
