One of Ohio State’s top remaining wide receiver targets in the 2025 class has set a commitment date.
Four-star California wide receiver Phillip Bell will choose from Ohio State, Washington, USC and Georgia on Aug. 31, one day after his birthday. Bell took official visits to all of those schools, but the race for his commitment is seen as a USC vs. OSU battle. His commitment date also happens to coincide with the Buckeyes’ season opener against Akron.
“My mind is made up,” Bell told On3 earlier this week. “The main things for me throughout my whole recruitment stayed the same. They were development, a place I know I can be happy at every day and the place that I feel can help get me to where I want to be. That is what my decision came down to.”
Bell is considered the No. 171 prospect and the No. 17 wide receiver in the 2025 class per 247Sports’ composite rankings. As a junior, Bell caught 56 passes for 644 yards with seven receiving touchdowns.

Phillip Bell down to OSU and USC. Per free 247 update:

Ohio State- "With Ohio State, I really love the coaching staff. Coach (Brian) Hartline has produced multiple 1st round picks at receiver the last three or four years and that's exciting. Ryan Day is a great head coach, an offensive minded head coach and they always have great quarterback play at Ohio State. You know every year there they're going to have a five-star quarterback running the offense and that's big for me."
USC- "With USC, you can't go wrong with Lincoln Riley. He's another great head coach, offensive minded and is a pass first coach. Dennis Simmons is a great wide receiver coach and he has also developed a lot of 1st round picks and does a great job with young receivers. USC has shown they will play young receivers and get them involved in the offense right away so there's a lot to love about both programs."

Per Matt Parker, Phillip Bell is likely to pick Ohio State this week

Jerome Myles and Preston Bowman are the two options Hartline is considering for the fifth WR spot in this class.

Sounds like the final number will be five WRs.
