Georgia and Texas had been the two standouts early on for the 2026 four-star receiver from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei but after a recent visit to Ohio State there has been a change at the top in his recruitment.
The Buckeyes and the Longhorns are now the two top teams for Dixon-Wyatt who loves the people in Columbus and that could be a driving factor moving forward.

Henry plays for California high school powerhouse Mater Dei, and his high school teammate, four-star 2026 wideout Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, will also be making the trip to OSU with Henry. It will be Dixon-Wyatt’s third trip to Ohio State and his first since he visited Columbus last spring.

Would love to see us pull this one off and I think we have a real shot at landing him, especially with never being able to count Hartline out for any WR recruit and hopefully having Henry in his ear to join him. Going to be a battle for sure but completely worth it, he may get slightly overshadowed by Henry but Kayden is seriously legit...really think he is going to be special at the next level.

I would love to get him too, but think he's a pipedream. Oregon I think gets him as their consolation prize for missing out on CHjr

Ohio State Buckeyes may have an advantage to beat out Big Ten foes for a recruit who they would be thrilled to land

Recruits in the class of 2026 have recently been putting together their summer plans of visits, and the Ohio State Buckeyes have been a program that has been mentioned frequently.

Ohio State, coming off a National Championship, will be one of the more popular stops for recruits this spring and summer.

The Buckeyes have four commitments so far for the class of 2026 after bringing in another top-five class for 2025. Ohio State’s highest-rated commit is WR Chris Henry Jr., who is the No. 1 player in the country at his position. However, Ohio State is very interested in Henry’s high school teammate at Mater Dei in California and it is mutual.

Kayden Dixon-Wyatt is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide receiver who is a four-star player ranked No. 151 in the country, according to 247 Sports Composite. Dixon-Wyatt is set to take an official visit to Columbus on May 31, and it will be one of five official visits that he has scheduled.

Dixon-Wyatt will start his visits by being in Alabama on May 16. The weekend after visiting Ohio State, the talented wide receiver will visit USC. After that, Dixon-Wyatt is seeing Texas and Oregon in June. USC and Oregon are two Big Ten programs that could have a higher chance of landing Dixon-Wyatt because of their location.
“Prototype WR in terms of his size and athleticism. Has a strong 6-3, 185-pound frame and plays a physical game. Can bully opposing corners who try and press him and is a willing blocker. Has strong hands and dominates 50-50 balls and catches the ball well through contact. For his size, has some wiggle to him and is surprisingly shifty after the catch. Runs well and can make plays down the field in the vertical passing game. Tough to stop in red zone situations and should be a tough matchup in the red zone. Has a nice edge in his game and always competes at a high level.” — Greg Biggins, 247 Sports
Ohio State will undoubtedly have Henry Jr. recruiting his teammate to continue at the next level with him. That counts for something in recruiting, but Ohio State’s best chance to land another talented wideout will come when he makes his OV.

Expect the class of 2026 to start to take shape as we get into the spring months here shortly and out of the dead period.

I know it's early in the 2026 recruiting game, and having recruits early hasn't always led to the best outcomes, but.....sure hate to see the other teams sprinting out to a lead. Please reread the first sentence, I did, but not used to seeing tOSU down that far in the rankings. I know, I know, that it's not how you start, but how you finish. Do so hope that tOSU is taking a 'more visit, less immediate commit' stance. Seems like the big names (5*+) are waiting to see how much NIL is to be spread around. And, from experience, the first offer sets the 'floor', with more to come on top. It has been pointed out by wiser posters than me, that tOSU simply isn't going to play that one-upsmanship game, and agree. Nor are they going to accept a commit, in order for that recruit to 'secure their place in the class' while they continue to visit etc. Just re-reading my own post points out how hard this recruiting game truly is, and what has become with the added dimension of NIL (let alone unlimited transfers). Not sure about the unlimited aspect, but am certain that will be corrected if in error. Go Bucks, and Lord, please give me the patience required to not be anxious or critical.
