GEORGETOWN A FAVORITE OF 2010 KENNEDY

Markus Kennedy, 6-foot-8 power forward from class of 2010 was one of the best players at the recent Hoop Group High School Showcase.

According to Jeff Borzello of the NBE Basketball Report, Kennedy did not demonstrate his dominance during the entire tournament, but when St. Pat?s needed him to takeover, he gladly obliged.

First of all, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, he is supposed to be 7-foot-2 when he finishes growing. If that ends up being true, look out. Offensively, Kennedy is an outstanding force inside. He can finish around the rim, and is a ferocious dunker with both hands.

Continued....

Schools alread in hot pursuit include Louisville, Xavier, Penn State, Rutgers, Rider and Ohio State. Kennedy lists his favorites as Ohio State and Georgetown. The Hoyas have shown interest, but haven?t offered yet.

I had recently heard that he no longer was considering us. I'd like to keep him as a backup plan ( plan B ) in case we lose out on Payne as I think it pretty important we sign one insider in '10 that won't be gone by '12 ( none of the current roster will still be here and we aren't likely to sign ANYONE in '09 ). Sullinger and Thomas ( 4/3 ) will be in the NBA in '12 so we need someone in that '10 class that will be able to transition and help the youngins ( '11 and '12 classes ). Hopefully PAYNE, but if he goes elsewhere this kid is intriguing.

Looking at another transfer

While forward Rodney Hood prepares to visit Duke this weekend and possibly decide shortly after that between the Blue Devils and Buckeyes, another transfer could be planning to take a look at Ohio State.

Markus Kennedy, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Philadelphia, is leaving Villanova after one season and has asked that his release be sent to five schools, including Ohio State, according to his former prep-school coach at Brewster Academy, Jason Smith.

Kennedy has not yet scheduled a visit to Ohio State, Smith said in an email. He also is considering Boston University, Georgia Tech, Florida and Rhode Island.

Kennedy played in 31 games for Villanova last season, started three, and averaged 3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per game. He would help bolster an Ohio State interior that will lose Evan Ravenel after next season. He will have three years of eligibility after sitting out next season.
