How They Got To The Tournament

The Buckeyes (29-3) enter the NCAAs as one of the favorites after winning the Big Ten regular season and conference tournament titles. Beware of dominating 7-foot freshman Greg Oden on both ends of the floor.

do you really think he can go bang with shaq? ed curry? howard etc? 82 nights a year? i dont see him being an "impact" player next year at the nba. good player yes. but, the reality is big men hit their stride until thier mid 20s or even a tad later.

All depends on what team he would get drafted to.

Oden, Buckeyes put talent on display

By WILL GRAVES
AP Sports Writer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Greg Oden grabbed the ball off the backboard, slammed it through the net and screamed. It was the kind of athletic, powerful play that's come to symbolize the Ohio State freshman's considerable talent. Too bad it didn't count.

Oden's hard foul late could have been his last in college
Sunday, March 18, 2007
By JEFFREY McMURRAY
Associated Press Writer

LEXINGTON, Ky. Just as his team was about to be shoved from the NCAA tournament, Greg Oden shoved back even harder.

Ohio State's behemoth center fouled out of his first collegiate game Saturday with nine seconds left, sending Xavier's Justin Cage first to the ground, then to the free throw line with a chance to seal the upset.

It was a shove of frustration, possibly desperation. It also provided a reminder that while Oden might have an NBA body and NBA stock, he's still a freshman.

"I just look at that foul as, they're going to call bull-crap fouls," Oden said. "I might as well get one that's hard."

Oden feels a little low

After scare with Xavier, Buckeyes star wonders what defense he'll face

By Marla Ridenour

Beacon Journal sportswriter

LEXINGTON, KY. - Greg Oden looked and sounded despondent.
Sitting at his locker after Ohio State's improbable rally over Xavier on Saturday at Rupp Arena, the 7-foot freshman talked so softly he could barely be heard. While the Buckeyes celebrated their 78-71 overtime victory around him, he acted like he could hardly get off his chair.
``He's a little down right now, but we'll turn that around on the road trip back,'' junior guard Jamar Butler vowed.

Greg Oden has surprised me this year, with all the hype he had going into the year, you would expect nothing less but a letdown, but he's been really good. As for the NBA, I thought I heard him saying that if he won the National Championship he would leave, and if tOSU didn't he would consider staying.

With that said, as for him in the NBA, I think he will be a great Center and could really change the game. Right now the NBA is a guard dominated league as compared to the past. He could really change that if he has a huge impact.

Do you mean...

Do I know the Gators are good? Then sadly enough, yes. :( It's hard living in Florida while they are winning everything. It would be like you living in Michigan while they were winning everything. It's pretty hard to do.

Or do you mean...

Do I know a member known as gatorsaregood? That would be a no.

Regarding his decision after the season, I personally would like to just enjoy the time we have him as a Buckeye and leave all the speculation until later.....Oden has been a joy to watch this year and he has made a great impact on the baskeball program. His value cannot be measured in that aspect.
