this also may be the summer when i start growing pubes. This could be the off-season he develops his game.

he's gone from 18 minutes to 13 minutes to 8 minutes. i think both parties understand the situation. giddens can't expect 10+ minutes at any high-major program, and osu won't need someone to average 10+ minutes. as long as giddens' mind is right, this is a low-risk move. How does this make sense for Giddens? I understand OSU is the best team willing to take him but didn't he leave partly because he wanted more playing time?
It's a low risk but also a low reward move. I guess if its absolutely the only possible way we could fill that position then it makes sense. I just have a hard time believing there isn't a better player but I could be wrong about that.he's gone from 18 minutes to 13 minutes to 8 minutes. i think both parties understand the situation. giddens can't expect 10+ minutes at any high-major program, and osu won't need someone to average 10+ minutes. as long as giddens' mind is right, this is a low-risk move.
Actually the reasoning behind the transfer was so he could play the 4. That transfer didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but maybe there is more to it that we don't know. Sometimes surprise spring transfers are after the coaches have individual meetings with their players. Some coaches are encouraging their own guys to transfer, and other coaches are using back channels to recruit guys on other teams. How does this make sense for Giddens? I understand OSU is the best team willing to take him but didn't he leave partly because he wanted more playing time? And now he wants to come back for his last season in which we already have a solid starting center?
I just wish the 2015 recruiting class could be dead and buried from Ohio State history already.
the challenge is finding a better player who would be happy playing behind a center who is expected to get 28+ minutes per game. if we weren't already going to have young, liddell and gaffney, then perhaps we could sell a transfer on the idea of playing the 4 when kaleb is on the court and the 5 when he's off. but those three power forwards make that a difficult pitch. all we really have to sell to prospects is kaleb's leftover minutes. It's a low risk but also a low reward move. kaleb: 2 fouls by the first media timeout. There’s worse centers to play behind. At least with Kaleb, you know there’s always a chance to get those foul trouble minutes.
Gididen's downside is he may get get all 5 fouls in said extra minutes. But as I said in the other thread. He tried hard and was a decent defender when not fouling. That's more than we got most of the year behind Kaleb this year. Now his offensive game is super limited but if he can just be not someone they can throw it in against and score everytime I think that's pretty much all we can expect behind Kaleb next year. There’s worse centers to play behind.
