C Byron 'B.J.' Mullens (Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo - Japan)

Refs compensating a bit now, but valley still rallying keeping it at 7 for awhile.

Steal and layup stretches it to 9. Valley misses two fts

60 to 51... About 1:30 left

Mullens dominated the first quarter in which Winchester played probably about as well as they could...

Really liked some things that BJ did tonight with a hook shot out of a triple team and a huge outlet pass up the sideline that led to the fast break...

He was getting hacked, but showed some struggles with 2 to 3 guys on him...Just to get an idea the 3 guys were 6'5'' that were guarding him...

Thought he got a little caught up in the crowd getting on him, and then got a little winded and BV was fronting backing and just surrounding him from all angles and frustrated him and he wasn't getting many calls...

Canal Winchester's B.J. Mullens puts down a dunk during a Division II district championship game in the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum. The Ohio State signee had 19 points -- tame by his standards.

Fans get so caught up watching every post move, dunk, block and outlet pass that 7-foot-1 Canal Winchester center B.J. Mullens seems to achieve with such ease, they can forget that the big guy has a fine surrounding cast.
Mullens had a mediocre performance by his standards -- 19 points, 26 rebounds and four blocks -- but his teammates stepped up as the deeper, quicker Indians repelled Buckeye Valley 63-51 to win a Division II district championship before a near-sellout crowd in the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum.

Continued......

Canal Winchester (21-2), which will face St. Paris Graham in regional play at 6:15 p.m. Thursday in Wright State's Nutter Center

I thought Paris Graham had a pretty good team or are you just referring to the height of their players.

I am assuming that you will be very impressed...I have seen him live 4 times and his most impressive games have all been in the tourney when his games mean a little more...

I assume that Graham is a team that will run a lot especially due to their lack of height and Canal has to not let that get them out of their game...

Graham's very tough but their tallest player is 6'2...BJ will likely put up 50-60 points on us. Graham is going to have to play lights out shooting the 3, which luckily they have some shooters. They are pretty technically sound but they are going to have to double or triple team Mullens, front him, and hope for the best. I'll be there to see them as well and even if my Falcons don't win, I'll get to see Mullens.

Not sure that Mullens will go for 50 or 60...Unless of course they decide to only man him up, but I am sure they will have more than that on him...

Canal's guards are very quick, and will guard the shooters...

Should be a good game...Two different styles of play...

theyll double down with a quick triple on bj the same way buckeye valley did. i dont see a center going for 50 on a team unless the coach gets worked. you can stop the entry passes you can stop a big man. bj is willing to pass and take 20 pts if that means open shots for his guys...

Buckeye Valley also had 3 guys that were 6'5''...So while not huge, that is a lot bigger than what Graham is...
