Hi all, I'm looking at a couple different LED TV's right now and wanted to make sure the deals I'm considering are a decent value.

The backstory is that I have $1,250 of store credit to Best Buy due to returning an older TV that broke while under warranty. So ideally I'd like to end up getting something from Best Buy, but if the deal is elsewhere and is too good to pass up, I could always use the store credit for other things over time. Or, I could always print off the other store's deal and take it to Best Buy and see how much they could come down (They went from $2500 down to $1800 on the last TV I bought by doing that).

I'd like to find something either 52" or 55", and here are the two I'm considering. 3D doesn't hold much appeal to me. Am I on the right track about these being decent deals on good quality TVs, or are there better ones out there I need to be aware of? Thanks.

Sharp Aquos LED 52", $1,299

Samsung LED 55", $1097

Edit: I should also mention I'm using these as a gauge for anything I see on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Get the Samsung LED 55" for $1,097. Unless tax is 14% or more, your $1,250 of store credit will cover the whole cost (i.e., it'll be free). The $1,299 Sharp will end up costing you $100 or so after taxes are added and it's 3 inches smaller.

Samsungs are the best, while Sharps are great, too (I have a 65" Sharp)., but you gotta go with "free"...

So I am moving in little over a week. Right now I have a 61inch Samsung DLP that I bought in 2006 for "THE GAME" but I want to buy a new TV for my bedroom. I have been looking at LCD/LED and I am leaning towards LED (unless I can find an absolute steal of a deal on a top quality LCD). Preferably I would like something between 42-46 inches. I like the quality on Samsung TV's and really beyond that I don't have much experience with what brands are putting out the best pictures now days (though I hear Samsung is at the head of the table).

I was at Best Buy last night and apparently with Samsung they are no longer allowed to sell any Samsung products for any price different than what Samsung lists it at? Meaning, I can't try and talk them down as I have done a number of times in the past. Not sure how true that is though because when I asked the guy when that started he replied with the ever so ironic "just this month I believe"...

Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions or listings? I generally follow slickdeals.net for good deals and reviews but there haven't been many HDTV postings on there as of late. Thanks in advance!

My mom and I got an LG 47" LED for the 2010 basketball tournament, and it has a great picture. I was leaning towards Samsung when we initially started looking, but the value of the LG was great, and it had the matte style screen, which we would have had to jump up quite a bit in the Samsung price range for that, and I don't believe they offer any sets with that style screen anymore. It really is a lot of personal preference. While seeing them in the store can be helpful, read a lot of reviews, because sometimes the settings on a great TV get horribly screwed up in the store display, making it look like a piece of junk. So far she hasn't had any problems with the set, and I miss watching stuff on it (the big screen in the place I just moved into is a Sony and it has a really crappy picture, I think. May try to adjust it a bit some day). I just got a 32" Philips for my bedroom and it is really nice, so don't be hesitate to look at Philips or Sharp, either. LG and Samsung are definitely up at the top, though.
