Muck and others:

1) What do you think about the Taurus "Judge"-type models (fire a scaled down .410 slug as well as .357 rounds)? Worth a go or over-hyped?

Might be pretty useful if you ever happen to get into a fight with a squad of rattlesnakes, other than that I don't really see the need.

2) Any recommendations on a laser/light combo for a Glock 19 (G4)?
I don't use lasers at all and haven't really kept up with what is available right now. Green lasers are much brighter (daylight visible) than red. Conversely that also can also be unreliable in temperatures <40 degrees.

Weapon lights it's hard to go wrong with Streamlight ($100 or so) or Surefire ($200 - $400) depending on your budget.

The Streamlight TLR-1s & TLR-3 or Surefire X300 are good places to start.
The TLR-3 is smaller than the others (runs on a single CR2 instead of 2 CR123s) but also has a shorter run time (1.5 vs 2.5 hours roughly) and isn't quite as bright.

You should be able to find an X300 Ultra for not much more than the standard X300 and it is much brighter than the others (more than 500 lumens vs just under 200).

The TLR-4 & X400 add a laser to the package.

Probably out of your way but GA Firing Line in Marietta has a few cuties working that will let you shoot most handguns. They are knowledgeable and very friendly. I've seen them patiently answer newbie questions asking the right questions to determine the best fit.

Check out GA arms also, cheapest ammo around.

Me I still carry my old S&W 659 9mm in my truck. I am a bow and muzzleloader guy but have been having a kick shooting my S&W 629DX .44mag. I use a fastfire III red dot sight.

One shot is all you need. I do like it close.

I had a good friend who was a 100 dollars short of buying his wife an Iphone 5 sell me a project a few days ago. I gave him a 100 bucks for an 870 express magnum. The stock is in decent shape, but the receiver and deer barrel are in excellent shape. I think i'm going to put a little cash in it and dress it up for home defense. Kind of a cheap, cool project gift to myself. I'll post pics when I getter finished.

So Muck, where can I find an AR right now? Ha.

There are still 2 here in KY that I know of......:paranoid:

Seriously though, I have gift mags on back order. It'll ease up eventually I think. All of the chicken little's get their panties in a twist and make a run on this shit right away, but there will be an ease up before any legislation passes. If you really want one, build it. It's not any cheaper, but you get a fun little project. you can get a stripped lower for right at or less than a Benjamin. .223 /5.56 that is. Total project should be less than a grand unless you trick it out. .308/7.62 is gonna be a bit more.

I have one already (bushmaster) and I've seen my gun, stripped down going for almost 3x what I bought it for on auction sights right now. Seems like a good investment. I do need to pick up a few more mags before the legislation kicks in. I am trying to help my buddy find one right now.

It's really crazy how literally ever place around me and on the internet has no inventory.

No shit? I should see what my Colt gets. That's crazy. I know the local shop here sold all but 2 of their inventory, which was easily 20+ in 2 days. Trusted employee said they did almost $200,000 in total sales. People were buying 4 and 5 guns at a time, and by the end, he was selling mags at 50 bucks a pop. The day before the shooting, 19.95. Fucking hillbillies....but i digress.

At least consider having your buddy build one though, its reasonably simple and it might be more practical than waiting in the short term, or paying an exorbitant price for it. I haven't priced parts since the shooting, but it might actually be cheaper even, depending on a little research. You don't need to be a gunsmith, and you really don't need very many tools. Plus, he gets to learn the gun in inside and out. Which is never a bad thing.

NSB, thanks for the heads up. I get up to "May-rett-uh" now and then. Will check it out. PM me with your whereabouts, too. That truck break-in scare you off?
