He's basing his conclusion that "people from Vermont have to be some of the ugliest people out there" on attending a conference in one town of Vermont? Did he even get out of the hotel? I just hope he doesn't come to conclusions in his scholarly research that way.

Well, it's hard not to make a judgement when that's all he saw.

Sorry we're not all as perfect as you. :roll1:

His statement was just absurd. Sorry. Some of you are really shallow.

Sorry he didn't have time to visit every nook and cranny of the exciting state of Vermont? :roll1:

What if he took a week to tour the state and found the same facts to be true, would that be OK then?

Plus, I am now convinced that people from Vermont have to be some of the ugliest people out there.

Further evidence to support buckeyegrad's findings.

My FR year in college my roommate was from Vermont. He was a midget albino.....creepiest looking mammal I've seen. Plus, I have a phobia of midgets, so I couldnt stand him.

Uh, this was just an off-the-cuff comment about an observation I made. I didn't claim it was "gospel". Why are you taking up such an offense? Do you know someone from Vermont who has been discrimated against because of their ugliness?

Oh, and I saw more than my hotel in Burlington. I walked the campus and drove around the downtown area. I also spent a good five hours driving through the western part of the state, going through a number of small towns.

His statement was just absurd. Sorry. Some of you are really shallow.

Gee, I wish I could be as enlightened as you. :roll1:

We're not worthy! We're not worthy! We're not worthy!

Were there a lot of mirrors in Vermont? Just wondering.

I don't mean to imply that you were seeing yourself. I am theorizing that maybe they don't care about their appearance, or perhaps they know they're ugly so they don't want to see themselves.

OK, I'm sure you're not buying those theories. I admit to just being a wiseass.

My high school Biology teacher was born and raised in Vermont. She was definitely one of the coolest teachers I ever had. One of the ugliest bitches I've ever seen, but she was cool nonetheless.

So now that three people have said they only have seen ugly people in vermont can we now declare that vermont is the state of ugly people?

I beleive so........so lets take a vote....who here feels that vermont should be renamed the ugly state?

Having spent much time in Vermont I can attest to the fact that there are indeed attractive people in Vermont.
Sure, the women don't look like USC cheerleaders, but we are talking a small state with a smaller population.
Perspective.

Even WV has some fine looking women!
They just don't have teeth! :slappy:

I googled 'vermont girls'.

Two pics off the first page:

Looks like a toss up to me...

There are a few girls in my graduate program from Vermont, and I would say that most of you guys would think they are hot. I have no pics -- sorry.

It just drives me nuts when people make huge generalizations about something with such a miniscule amount of evidence. It's like saying because you met a few [insert school here] fans and they were assholes that the entire fan base must be assholes. :roll1:

I was giving Bgrad a harder time because his future profession involves research, and that was some shady research. :p

Ohio by Birth-Vermont by Choice

OK, I grew up in OH, graduated from OSU, have lived in Vermont for over a year now. First let me say that Burlington/Chittenden County is distinct from the rest of the state...there's a huge difference. Vermont is definitely a rural state, except for Burlington. VT is the 49th ranked state for population size.

Anyone who has traveled anywhere knows there are "less attractive" people everywhere. However, while Ohio is consistently listed as one of the top 3-5 states with overweight residents, Vermont is always top 5 for states with least obese people. My family moved here as a lifestyle choice. People are simply more active, health-conscious here. Oh, and people here are known for being overly friendly.

To the guy who said Burlington was lame: Did you go down to Church St.? It is a REAL pedestrian city with character and plenty of nightlife. There are five colleges here in a city of only 30,000! Endless unique bars and restaurants (and very few chains!). VT has the most microbreweries per capita than any other state; Nothing wrong with that! I was in a bar once and counted 27 women to just 2 guys! That is why it has the nickname "Girlington"!

Dude, maybe it wasn't the city that was lame...

I've been to Vermont as well and not just Burlington and can tell you that grad is not far off in his assessment.

Besides them being ugly, they have that highly unattractive New England accent. :sick1:
