Don't Immanentize the Eschaton
I will be in Burlington next week for three days to attend a conference being hosted by the U. of Vermont. I won't have a lot of free time, but was wondering if there was any restaurant recommendations or must-see attractions.

What will we be conferring about?

Cross-Campus Dialogues About Religious and Spiritual Differences

Most of the leading advocates for the inclusion of spirituality in colleges' and universities' missions will be at the confernce. The spiritual development of college students is my primary research area, so I am primarily going for the networking possibilities.

Well, now I understand why this question received so few responses.

Burlington sucked. Sure, it was beautiful and I would have loved to have time to hike some of those mountains, but besides the scenic lakes and hills, there was nothing else. Not a good thing for someone stuck at a conference with only the evenings free.

Plus, I am now convinced that people from Vermont have to be some of the ugliest people out there.

Divinity student missing in Burlington. Buckeyegrad?

My view has nothing to do with politics or religious perspectives. It has everything to do with the fact that as a visitor I didn't find the place very welcoming. The environment was a bit too "insider".

Why is that a stereotype? If so, I've never heard it.

He's basing his conclusion that "people from Vermont have to be some of the ugliest people out there" on attending a conference in one town of Vermont? Did he even get out of the hotel? I just hope he doesn't come to conclusions in his scholarly research that way.
