Buffalo Bills (official thread)

O i know, was just kidding, this staff is loyal to a fault. But the guy just sucks, he's basically a 50% passer, I'd rather see the Brad Smith experiment than Thiggy. I fully expect both ufa rookies to end up at Citgo with Levi Jones, but Tanney does look good on paper (and Youtube).
I'm with you. Not a good thing when the most notable thing he did last year was getting hit in the head by a ball warming up.

Corp should be interesting to watch. We need a young QB to develop.

Okay, so it looks like Vince Young will be in the mix after all:

Next up in the 2-spot: Tarvaris Jackson, one of my least favorite NFL starters ever!

''Vince, I don't want to get into what he can do and can't do, it just didn't work out,'' general manager Buddy Nix said. ''We just need to move on and give this guy a try.''
...
''Maybe getting in the right place and the right system, he'll blossom,'' Nix said. ''He's bounced around a little bit, but who knows, we'll give it a try."

Those quotes are exactly what Buddy sounds like all the time.

We'll see how the season goes but so far not a lot of bright spots outside of Mario Williams and Stevie Johnson.

I don't know, I'm fairly excited about Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller teaming up in the backfield again: they were a pretty effective combo before Jackson broke his leg last year.

And getting away from the 3-4 will be good for a defense that never had the right personnel for it. Marcell Dareus is kind of a beast.

If this keeps up, they?re going to break a record for most records broken in a season. Buffalo?s defense has allowed 580 yards and 621 yards in its last two games. Quick, what do you call it when the Bills allow 550 yards and lose by three touchdowns? Progress. What do you call it when they give up 300 yards? Halftime.

That?s not a collection of jokes. It?s a collection of facts, and in recent weeks they?ve come to characterize a football team that has become a joke. The Bills have been so bad in their three losses that it?s laughable. But it?s not going to be funny for anyone involved if their season continues down the same path and falls off a cliff.

:sad2:

Still waiting [for old man Wilson to kick the bucket so the Bills get sold and move away and I can finally be free of this albatross about my neck] ...

LOL!!!! I hear you BayBuck, as a Buffalo-native and still a season ticket holder the Bills are like a destructive drug. Ohio State gives me so much happiness while the Bills give me so much misery. The sad thing is Bills fans are calling for a new coach, but the dirty little secret is we could never get a quality coach to come to Orchard Park unless we paid double his going rate as we did with Terrell Owens.

This is a team that hasn't been to the playoffs since 1999 (or won a playoff game since '95) but has only drafted higher than 8th twice since Bruce Smith (#4 Mike Williams in 2002, #3 Marcell Dareus last year). It's like Chinese water torture with the 6-7 win seasons and #8-12 draft picks.

So the Bills fired another coach, what's new? The big news for Buffalo is Russ Brandon taking over as President/CEO, giving him the final say in place of Old Man Wilson -- "full authority to run this franchise with zero restrictions and zero limitations." I'm a little concerned that this is like Mike Priest running the Blue Jackets, but a step away from Wilson is a step in the right direction.

Brandon, 45, joined the Bills in 1998 and has overseen remarkable off-the-field success in the last 15 years. The Bills had more sellouts in the first decade of the 2000s, when they never made the playoffs, than in the 1990s, when they were the second-winningest team in the National Football League. Their marketing of training camp is a model for the NFL. Their regionalization of the franchise to Rochester and Southern Ontario has been a great success.

...

Meanwhile, Brandon said he would create an analytics department, a growing trend in the NFL. ?We are going to create and establish a very robust football analytics operation that we layer into our entire operation moving forward,? Brandon said. ?That's something that's very important to me and the future of the franchise.?

Also, Buddy Nix has actually done a half-decent job as GM but could be replaced by heir apparent Doug Whaley before next season.
