COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State football will play four consecutive night games during the 2016 season, the school announced on Monday.

The Buckeyes will play:

• at Wisconsin, Oct. 15, 8 p.m.
• at Penn State, Oct. 22, 8 p.m.
• vs. Northwestern, Oct. 29, 5:30 p.m.
• vs. Nebraska, Nov. 5, 8 p.m.

All four games will be aired on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

The game at Penn State had already been announced as Penn State's annual "White Out" game at Beaver Stadium, and it will be the fifth straight time the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions play in primetime.

This comes from ESPN's release of Big Ten night games on its networks. It's possible the Buckeyes could have more than four night games, including one on Big Ten Network and the Sept. 17 game at Oklahoma. The Big Ten Network will announce its night games at a later date.

Urban said at the beginning of his tenure that he wanted more night games - and he has them.

As a fan, I hate waiting until evening to see the game, but if night games are good for the Bucks, I'll make the small sacrifice.

My tix for Nebraska will be on the resale site.

Cannot stay up till 2 am, and that's when you get home after an 8 pm kickoff these days. Game over at 11:30 or later, then 2 hr plus to get home.

Great point. I went to Wisky @ OSU a few years ago. Walked out of the stadium around 12:00 AM, walked half hour to where we parked, got in a traffic jam, and left Cbus city limits around 1:30 AM. Got to my son's house outside of Dover at 3:30 AM and drove 20 minutes home. Got in bed at 4:15 AM. Too hard on the old man. I'm glad I got to experience a night game in Ohio Stadium. That place was juiced, but I think I'd rather turn the TV off and go to bed from now on.

I'd rather have all noon starts; however, they never asked me my preference.......

I do think the players like the "prime time" games and I'm sure it helps recruiting. Needless to say, getting to play before a "national TV audience" is one the reasons they come to Ohio State. The two top nonconference games in 2016 are:

USC vs. Alabama, Sept. 3 in Arlington, Texas
Ohio State vs. Oklahoma, Sept. 17 in Norman, Oklahoma

I'll guess that the Ohio State/Oklahoma game will be prime time too.

Ranking Ohio State's 2016 Games in Order of Difficulty

With the Big Ten's announcement of four of Ohio State's night games, we can now punch that data into a computer and have it spit out the varying difficulties of each of the 12 games this coming season.

This is the first season of the Big Ten going to nine conference games and only three non-conference games, which means that every other season the Buckeyes will be playing five road conference games. This year, however, they only travel four times in conference, but those four trips — Wisconsin, Penn State, Maryland and Michigan State — are some doozies.

But which games are the dooziest? That's a tough question, which is why it is being asked.

So let's start with the least doozy and go from there.

12. Tulsa (Sept. 10)
The Tulsa game represents Ohio State's annual "easy out-of-state" game. Tulsa wasn't very good last year, but they return 14 starters so they might be slightly less not-very-good in 2016. That being said, this is the game before the Buckeyes travel to Oklahoma, so there could be some lack of concentration in this one at times. But even then, it is OSU who is OSU's biggest competition in this game.

11. Bowling Green (Sept. 3)
Bowling Green should still have a high-powered offense — or at least a fast-moving one. They lost quite a few starters off of last year's team that went 10-4, including star quarterback Matt Johnson, star running back Travis Greene and star wide receiver Roger Lewis. This will be a good early test for an untested Buckeye defense, but the OSU offense should be able to score fairly easily.

10. at Maryland (Nov. 12)

I have a feeling that the every-other-year trip to Maryland will become what the Indiana trip used to be for Buckeye fans. Sure, it's a little further than Bloomington, but it's worth the trip. There's even a casino on the way, if you're into that sort of thing. The only gambling on the way to Bloomington is whether or not you're going to hit a deer. Of course, there will be plenty of deer on the way to Maryland as well, so don't let me make you think the east coast is devoid of deer. Anyway, go to this game so that Maryland can take an overhead picture of a full stadium of fans clad in red for the cover of their media guide like the Hoosiers always used to do.

9. Rutgers (Oct. 1)
Maybe I am crazy, but I expect Rutgers to be a bit better this year than last year because of the fundamentals that new head coach Chris Ash will bring. That's why I have this game at home being a little more difficult than the Maryland game on the road. I just think Rutgers will make Ohio State work for it a bit more.

1. at Oklahoma (Sept. 17)
This is likely going to be a matchup of Top 5 teams, as Oklahoma returns plenty of starters, including Heisman candidate Baker Mayfield. The Buckeyes, meanwhile, will have a secondary with three new starters who have just two games under their collective belts before heading off to the wild unknown of Norman, Oklahoma. This will likely be a night game and it wouldn't be a surprise to see ESPN GameDay here as well. There is going to be nothing easy about this game, but it sure is going to be fun to watch.
