See above. There's your reason. It wouldn't matter if the Bearcats were up, we'd still play them because we have a new AD who will embrace an in-state rivalry. And it's gonna be a good one.

How long was Geiger there? Was he there from 1962 - 2005? What happened to the other years? It's not just Geiger/Huggins. It's the whole university who decided to take their ball and go home after UC defeated you 2 straight years.

(Also, I'm not rejoicing over those titles considering me and probably about 98% of this board never even remembers watching the game. Hell my mom an infant).

You see. It makes no sense. It completely baffles me. It really is frustrating for something like this to happen now after it NOT happening for 40 years. So yeah. . . it really does make you wonder.

Hmmmmm, OSU schedules UC soon after Huggins leaves and UC's program is down?

It does make you wonder. Thanks Bucks for scheduling UC when they were down. Could it be even more obvious?

No wait, I forgot, your AD hated our coach. That's a good reason to not continue the long/anticpated rivalry. Yipppeee, I'd give anything to face OSU when UC was actually better than they will be next year.

I wouldn't flame too much if I were you...it may melt the already-thin ice you're standing on right now.

At this point, it doesn't really matter why they haven't played in 44 years. The point is that they are going to play next year and I hope it leads to other meetings down the road.

I will say that Geiger was dead set against playing cincy along with the university from a situation with a certain recruit that ended up at cincy when Ohio State was accused of improper recruiting. It was other reasons also, but recently that had a big part to play in it.

All I'm saying that it's frustrating when you've been wanting this rivalry to commence for such a long time and now it finally happens when we're probably going to have 2-3 scholarship players who will play next year that are getting playing time this year. Obviously, we're going to be down. . . very down. I just wish they would've done this sooner and I hope they continue to face each other in the future and not once every 5, 10, 15, or 45 years.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. All one has to do is look to the UK/U of L matchup every year to see how exciting an instate rivalry can be (Though, I may be wrong, didn't UK have to be brought into that by the state legislature kicking and screaming?). It's an absolute shame that it's taken this long for these two programs to get together. Like you, I'm hoping this isn't just a one time thing, as that would be an even bigger shame.

I'm betting this won't be just a one time thing. Ohio State will play, and beat, sUCk next year, and many years after that - hopefully.

You make it sound as if Ohio State is only playing Cincy BECAUSE they are down. Ridiculous. Many changes have happened the last couple of years that have nothing to do with the talent drop off in Cincitucky.
