Buckeyes in the draft/NFL Combine

There will be 11 Buckeyes drafted...Hawk, Holmes, Youboty, Whitner, Salley, Carpenter, Mangold, Kudla, Sims, Schlegel, and Huston. I am guessing in that order. Not up to the 14 after the 2003 year, but not bad.

2006 draft prospects promising for Youboty

By Doug Harris
Dayton Daily News
COLUMBUS | Ohio State's Ashton Youboty knew he'd be passing up a chance to be a probable captain and play for a national-title contender by skipping his senior season. But the cornerback didn't believe he could help himself by waiting another year to pursue the NFL.
<!--endtext-->

<!-- inset --> <!--begintext--> "All of that went through my mind," he said, adding, "I talked it over with my family and coaches, and I think I made the right decision overall.
"A lot of people felt if I came back, I'd be one of the top two corners for next year's draft. But I feel I have the potential to be a top-two corner for this year's draft. It all depends on my workouts (for NFL scouts)."
Draft analysts seem to concur.
Mel Kiper Jr. has Youboty rated the 22nd-best player on the board with an arrow indicating his stock is rising, while Jerry Jones puts the 6-foot-1, 188-pound Houston product at 28th.
Youboty is one of three Buckeye juniors to bolt for the pros, joining receiver Santonio Holmes and safety Donte Whitner.
Jones rates Holmes as the top receiver in the draft, while Whitner is a probable second-round pick.
Because safeties rarely crack the first round, Jones doesn't believe Whitner would have gained anything by coming back.
"Look at Mike Doss," Jones said of the former OSU All-American drafted 58th overall in 2003. "He came back and didn't really change his draft position."
Senior linebacker A.J. Hawk is rated No. 7 overall by Jones, who also considers center Nick Mangold a first-rounder.
"I don't see anyone disputing he's the best center in the draft," Jones said.

Ok so far 49 juniors have declared for the draft and there are only 32 teams in the NFL x 7 rounds = 224 picks + some bonus picks. Is it just me or is this going to hurt pretty much everyone's draft position? Over 20% of the draft can be non seniors. It seems like many of these juniors would have been better off waiting a year and getting drafted higher next year.

In Kiper's defence he has always maintained that the "Big Board" isn't his "Draft Projection."

Despite which claim - the manner in which this comes across is that Kiper wants to simply cover his bases.

So we are back to Kiper is an:
