3 Football Buckeyes got 4.0's in the Spring (Stan White Jr., Brandon Schnittker and Anthony Gonzales). 48 football players got at least a 3.0.

I know this will be on ESPN's main page soon, but since most of us don't look there anymore, I thought I'd post this here.

Classroom Excellence:

A number of Buckeye football players have been doing well in the classroom, but three of them have done exceptionally well this spring. Senior fullback Brandon Schnittker, junior fullback Stan White Jr. and sophomore wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez all recorded 4.0 GPAs spring quarter.

"I usually have my best quarters when I really have to manage my time," said Schnittker, a marketing major, with a 3.8 GPA.

"When you have to spend three of four hours on the practice field, you know every minute of your study time is important. So during the fall and spring, I know I really have to apply myself."

Schnittker, a native of <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 /><ST1:PLACE w:st="on"><ST1:CITY w:st="on">Sandusky</ST1:CITY>, <ST1:STATE w:st="on">Ohio</ST1:STATE></ST1:PLACE>, hopes to go into college coaching after his football career is over.<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O:P></O:P>

"I have always been interested in education, and coaching is an extension of that," he said. "I am fascinated by the mental part of the game.<O:P></O:P>

"Coach (Jim) Tressel has been a very positive influence for me. I think he does things the right way and I try to learn by watching him. Without really knowing it, he has furthered my interest in the profession."

:tongue2: That's for the News Network part of ESPiN

Bristol CT, the home of meterosexuals everywhere.

Great news BB73 - another notch in the belt for JT and his crew as well.

(I always thought Gonzo ran "smart" routes -- glad to hear he is up there with Lanese and other past OSU scholar athletes).

Good post BB73, but sadly, news like this will get lost in the trenches because it really has nothing to do with what intercollegiate athletics is all about (i.e, cheating, lying, win at all costs attitudes), right? Well, at least from a media standpoint.

Great job kudos to the players, coaches, and most importantly the educators that make this University what it is, simply the best on the "planet." Peace.

COLUMBUS, Ohio: As one of the veterans on this year’s Ohio State football team, senior fullback Brandon Schnittker knows it is important to be a leader, both on the field and in the classroom

During the just completed Spring Quarter, Schnittker did both, locking up his role as the starting fullback and recording a perfect 4.00 in the classroom.

“I usually have my best quarters when I really have to manage my time,” said the marketing major, who sports a nifty 3.8 GPA. “When you have to spend three of four hours on the practice field, you know every minute of your study time is important. So during the fall and spring, I know I really have to apply myself.”

Schnittker, a native of Sandusky, Ohio, hopes to go into college coaching after his football career is over.

“I have always been interested in education, and coaching is an extension of that,” he said. “I am fascinated by the mental part of the game. “Coach (Jim) Tressel has been a very positive influence for me. I think he does things the right way and I try to learn by watching him. Without really knowing it, he has furthered my interest in the profession.” In addition to Schnittker, junior fullback Stan White Jr. (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore flanker Anthony Gonzalez (Cleveland) also recorded 4.00s. As a team, Ohio State had 48 players with a GPA of 3.00 or higher in the spring.
