Yeah your 2002 championship was all luck, :roll1: it had nothing to do with being the better team. Tell you what I'll take the lucky 11-1 rosebowl champs and 12-0 NC champs, and you can can have the GOOD teams.

im not willing to take the #1 ranking from them, but if gaining urban meyer helps florida to a #3 spot, shouldn't norm at least be mentioned?

Good points. I think that some on this board are a little sensitive to some topics I guess.......and take way too many things literally. I read that same ESPN column yesterday, and I didn't see anything anti-OSU in it. If they appointed us the best defense (which is a stretch) in the country......they would have fans from other schools bitching. I think they were spot on with the LB comment..........you don't determine the best unit until after the season. I'm not sticking up for ESPN, but it gets kind of old bitching and moaning about everything they write, especially when this time it's not a shot at OSU.

I think that USC is #1 until someone knocks them off, kind of a common courtesy thing I guess. They've got enough returning talent to be considered the #1 team....thats for sure. I do believe that they will not be there at seasons end........alot will have to do with the loss of Norm Chow.

I would like to protest your annointment. NDChief is a Notre Dame fan, that makes him worse than any Buckeye homer could ever hope to be.

Okay... I might have gone overboard there... maybe, but... on the other hand NDCheif is a NOtre Dame Fan, so what he has to say is only half as important (if that) as an Ohio State Fan... so we have to factor that in as well.

I tend to think that The loss of Norm Chow is going to be a bigger factor next year (once Leinert- his protege- is gone). See the NC State Post Philip Rivers QB hangover... another Chow kid. Just my opinion... and not to say losing norm doesn't equal a loss... but... the big impact will be later, I think.

You can't keep mentioning the longhorns record last year without stressing the fact that they lost a majority of their offence in cbenson.
They did lose Benson, but their OL is top 5 in the country, and they do have a couple RB's who can fly. They won't have the short yardage and red zone capabilities they had last year, but it's not like they have to play with 10 on offense.
This argument is getting old. Every team in the country has lost someone who was important to them last year. It's wierd that this keeps happening year after year....it's almost like these kids aren't staying in college forever.

I known everyone losses players. However, cbenson was been their go to player for years. He will be misted.

My point is, it will be tough replacing his numbers, along with his leadership.

I'm glad cbenson's departure has opened doors for another player. The problem is, when that door opens, ajhawk will be in the doorway.

Benson will be missed for sure. I take it Young is going to be eligible? I thought there was some question about that.
Selvin Young was cleared to play.

Henry Melton, a freshman RB listed at 270 lbs, had clearing house issues and missed the first day of practice, but he was cleared for last night's practice.

Jamaal Charles, the best running back recruit for the Horns this last year, was held out of practice last night after the NCAA sent an email to the Horns stating that their was a clearing house issue.

I think USC can run the table again b/c of the weak ass schedule they play, but I think if a team that is not overrated like OU last year, makes it to the championship game, they will lose.

I think if USC played our schedule they would lose 2 games.

Reading that makes me wonder about having Bobby Carpenter line up at RB in goalline situations...
His dad was a pro bowler IIRC and Bobby played some RB in HS, so how can you go wrong? :)...he also played TE a little bit and seems to have pretty good hands still if you look at his interceptions, maybe we can use him in the goal line
