I've written two long posts in response, both being erased before I could post them :hatepc: ...effing computer!
ANYWAY!
If you're willing to be Commish, all you have to do is log into yahoo and click on the "new team / set up own league" tab or whatever it's called. There is an option to copy the settings from leagues you participated in last year, so you shouldn't have to do all the settings / rules research from last year...they will automatically remain the same when you click the Duece Keeper League settings.
Once a league (Duece Keeper 2009) is created, we get all of last year's returning managers to log in and determine who is back / how many managers are not returning.
We open those forfeited teams up to new owners. If we have takers, we can then set our keepers and a draft date.
The draft might be a little tricky. I am not sure that yahoo has a commish tool that will allow you to pre-assign players before the draft.....if it does, that would be perfect. We assign the keepers to each team, then the draft goes as last year, reverse order from last year's league standings/finish.
If you cannot pre-assign players, then we will have to do two things:
1.) Obviously each team participating in the live draft will HAVE to "draft" their keepers with their very 1st & 2nd picks.
2.) (and more importantly) those managers who cannot make the draft will HAVE to pre-rank their draft list with their two keepers as their top 2 players so the auto draft selects them.
The only glitch that I could see is if someone would want to do something crazy and keep 2 QBs or something, then the auto draft manager would continue skipping over the 2nd QB until that team's other starting spots are filled (but I can't fathom anyone wanting to do that).
Of course all of that is moot if we don't get enough players who want to return or take over the forfeited franchises...in which case we could scrap the keeper aspect and start anew.
In either case, setting up the league online would be the first step since FKA seems to be out.
