Clarity

Alan has started a new site, if you see a reference to 'BII' here on BP, that's what it is. BuckeyeInsiderInfo.com. As the URL suggests, the plan is for this site to offer a uniquely intimate exposure to the program we all love to follow.

But as this is Alan's vision, in concert with several users from BP, I want *them* to be the ones to talk about what it is, and what it isn't.

http://www.buckeyeinsideinfo.com

That link will take you there. I highly encourage everyone to go check it out, bookmark it, etc. Bear in mind that you're getting a look at the formative process, which is (imo) a terrifically exciting time for all involved. All I'm saying is that what you see now, is likely not what Alan has in store. On the software end at least, it's going to change.

To be clear, I am excited about what BII can bring to the community. I am *ecstatic* that Alan is pursuing an opportunity to do what he loves. I think that's a major positive for anyone, and unfortunately a too-rare pursuit. There should be plenty of opportunities for BP and BII to act in concert, and when we have the chance and cause to explore those, we will.

Names from here you'll recognize over there are Alan, HelpingHand, Deety, NevadaBuck, ScarletInMyVeins, BuckeyeFromScum, Highstreet, and wstripes. These aren't the users, these are the people (as I understand) are shaping the place. The userbase has already grown, and will continue to as the site really takes on the role envisioned.

If there's something to talk about related to BII, this is a good place for it. If you have questions about the site, I *highly* recommend heading on over, checking it out, and posing them there where the people involved can address them directly. I say this not to divorce BP from BII, but rather to direct BII interests to BII itself. Drive some eyeballs over. :)

Thanks Clarity I appreciate your integrity. Some people that own a site would of got offended by the fact that a member of your site would open their own fearing they would "steal" members. Once again you have shown your class.

I've already visited "BII" and it is in the progress of becoming a great site not only to compliment tOSU but the Buckeye community and BP in a whole.

I wish BP and BII the best of luck in the future!

I think people were starting to get the impression that there was or could be a problem between the sites, and I just don't see that being a concern. And perhaps my efforts on the BP forums, and off via PMs, to proactive avoid potential problems by trying to create common boundaries and definitions, only further served to enhance that perception.

What I wanted to make openly clear here in this thread, was that BII is out there, that people who are (and hopefully always will be) members of the BP community are actively involved in shaping it. And that while the two sites are distinctly different entities with different approaches, expectations and intents -- there is plenty of room and opportunity for these critters to compliment one another.

I told Alan some time ago that he shouldn't worry about myself or 'BP' feeling threatened, because BP and BII are in different arenas. BII is about making "premium content" *really* mean something. Value. Real insider information, as opposed to what (in the past at least, can't speak to the present) has been a regurgitation of press releases, press conferences, official announcements, public information, etc. From this angle, everyone should be interested and optimistic about BII and the group of people they've gathered together.

Sometimes in our effort to make sure there can't be problems, we risk feeling a bit like there are some. I don't know. I likened it recently to getting a flu shot. Some people always claim to feel sick afterwards, even though the innoculation itself is preventative. Just wanted to make sure my preventative steps didn't leave anyone feeling ill.

Alan, BuckeyeFromScum, ScarletInMyVeins, HelpingHand, NevadaBuck, Highstreet, BrutusMaximus, Deety, and/or anyone else involved over there -- these are all people who are in entirely good standing and regard over here. I think (hope) this goes without saying. BFS and SIMV were involved with the tees, those raised just over $300 towards the server. Not a minor deal. BMax helped define what the server was going to be, and from where. Alan has run the rumor mill, and played a significant role in bringing fresh information to BP. Highstreet has been a force in the recruiting forum. Deety brings a necessary wit and perspective to the forums, offered terrific insight and opportunities when the server drive was going. HelpingHand has been living up to his name in one way or another around here from the early days. NevadaBuck has been sharing some of his inside info as well for quite some time. I'm certain I'm forgetting names, but what's important is the theme. BII doesn't represent a departure or a fracture of BP. It's true they're at what I always feel is sort of an awkward stage of development for a new site, and because of that we're all trying to get a feel for what is going to work where and how -- but that's a growing process, not a problem.

I anticipate zero drama between the sites, particularly once BII finds its approach and direction. When I've dropped PMs to people about it, it's merely been about trying to make sure we're all on the same page relative to how best to handle things that relate to crossover roles and promotion on BP.

Someone adding content and experience to the OSU community is never going to be, in of itself, a negative from BP's perspective.

As always, Clarity is the class act of class acts. :)

Before anyone gets the very odd impression that I'm a somehow a major player there... I've just been having fun polishing my rusty tech skills by doing a little bit with the initial setup. It's nice to be useful and help out a buddy when I can. But saying I have any role in the content or direction of that site is sort of like saying my rep points here are indicative of my football knowledge. :p

Didn't want anyone to think Alan has been recruiting 'gurus' whose eyes cross trying to figure out who does what in Cover 2. :)

Ditto for me as well. I actually have nothing to do with BII :)

Well, that's not ENTIRELY true, but let's say I havent been involved with anything directly as of yet. Have gotten some web design and graphic editing practice while working on a few things for it, but it's all yet to be used.

I want to let alan make his comments before my brief glances at Alan's vision distorts his true hopes for BII.

IMO, BP and BII are very different and couldn't & wouldn't steal business from one another. Alan has a great network already, with both wstripes (USC's insider) and gouxgate (scout.com? recruiting guru) bringing us a lot of info from the west coast as well as the OSU/USC recruiting battles. I think with all of the resources and wealth of organized information on BP and the fantastic reporting on BII, this could be an incredible alliance of sorts (moreso as friends rather than partners).

The best part is that both sites have fantastic people behind them, fueled by a love for OSU and CFB and not a bottom line. I can't wait to see where BP & BII take us next, both in their own pursuits and occasionally together.

With insider info, are they planning on charging? If not, I think BN could be in big trouble if word gets out about the new site...

I think it's great to have another option to keep up with the Bucks... I'm sure Alan run a good ship (just like I thought C-dog would here... give that site time and it will have a large member list as well)...

Congrats on your new site Alan!!! (I'd post on the board, except I gave an email account I don't currently have access to... I'll post a "hello" when I can...

I think the biggest thing is that it will not be fueled by profit but by love of the buckeyes... with the exploding traffic they are starting to get, advertising on the site would also be a money maker regardless of subscriptions.
