Buckeye sticker mistaken for marijuana sticker

It just reinforces my decision to never ever enter a southern state other than Louisiana (to go to New Orleans or bayou country).

To be honest Louisiana is the worst state to be driving through with out of state plates. Taking I-10 is New Rome bad.

A few years ago my oldest boy did his pine wood derby car in Buckeye theme. He had buckeye stickers on each side of the car. I overheard a few people comment about what terrible parents would let a kid put a pot leaf of a Cub Scout car. I made a point of correcting each of them.

This is in Illinois... Suffice it to say a few of us had a good laugh about it.

We had friends over Friday night. My son's laptop which has an Ohio State "Skinit" was sitting on the dining room table. She asked my wife those were marijuana leaves on his computer. She had to explain to her what it was. We live in Pennsylvania about twenty minutes from the Ohio River. Some people just don't get it...

I think I posted this back on Bustnuts about 11 years ago when this first happened, but I had just bought myself a Lexus 300 IS for my "retirement present" after retiring for the USAF. I put a Buckeye sticker on my license plate and on my windshield where the base registration decals go. One day lunch, I came out to my car to find a business card left under my driver's side wiper. I figured that some liked my car and maybe wanted to ask about it. When I returned from lunch, I called the guy (a USAF Major) and asked him what he wanted. He said he was concerned about the sticker on my car. It took me a few seconds to realize what he meant, but once I did, I said, "Oh, you mean the Buckeye sticker?" Silence. I then asked him what he thought it was, and he just said something along the lines of "We were concerned that it was something else." I told him straight out that it isn't a marijuana sticker and then should be pretty obvious that it isn't. I then told him to have a nice day and hung up.

I wore my ''Earned'' shirt on a cruise I went on several years ago, and one of the workers serving food thought it was a pot leaf. He was not American, so it's understandable. An Auburn fan of all people corrected him before I even registered what he had said.
