Who is still giving Miami(OH) a vote?

I was wondering the same thing. But remember, the ballots were in before the loss to NIU. On the other hand, Miami hasn't exactly been killing teams since losing to OSU.

Smosh, I agree with the Umpire. No way you can have OSU ahead of USC. Having OSU ahead of VaTech is suspect as well. I'd keep em behind UGA, though now we're getting closer to where the 1 loss to 0 loss isn't that big a difference.... By the time you get to Flast, well... I think it's fair to say a 1 loss OSU is better than an undefeated FSU. At least right now, considering who OSU lost to, and who FSU has won against, and how.

Cal at #6 or #7? Come on. Sure, they're 5-0, but let's take a look at who they've played:

Sacramento State (1-4, and a Div 1-AA team, I might add)
Washington (1-4)
Illinois (2-3)
New Mexico State (0-5)
Arizona (1-3)

That's a combined record of their opponents of 5-19. That's gotta be the most cupcake schedule so far this year, w/the exception of only Texas Tech. Cal's doing what they do every year--scheduling cupcakes and running up a good record against them, then they'll go to a bowl game and get smashed by a 4th place team from a big conference, proving exactly how mediocre they really are.

If it makes you feel better, I had Cal at 13, and Didn't Rank Texas Tech (And won't until they paly "Varsity" Football teams...) At least Cal has palyed more than 1 I-A team, and routed a couple of them...

Well... the good news is, you're right... if they (Cal) suck, they'll get theirs in the end.

Cal also has one of the top coaches in the game in Jeff Tedford, and they have been USC's toughest opponent over the past few years. Combined with their undefeated record, that's enough for a top ten ranking on my ballot.

:tibor:

If they're that bad, they'll lose a few down the line to the better PAC 10 teams, and they'll fall, now won't they? It isn't their fault they play the two worst teams in the conference first...and speaking of scheduling, how many OOC teams are lining up to schedule a home-and-home with Cal right now? Not many, I presume.

Maybe I am being too hard on them. And while I agree with you that it isn't their fault they play the two worst teams in the conference first (although I think you may be underestimating just how bad Stanford is, considering they've already lost to Div I-AA UC Davis), I think it is their fault for scheduling cupcakes like Illinois, New Mexico St., and Div I-AA Sacramento St.

I'll give you Sacramento State and NMSU, but it was only four years ago that Illinois was the Big Ten Champion, playing in a BCS game. If Cal schedules well in advance, like OSU does, it isn't their fault that Illinois is bad.

With that being said, I am not greatly impressed with them (as in, I don't think they are top 5 caliber). But they are a solid team and are still 5-0, despite losing their starting QB for the year (Longshore, I believe). However, I still expect them to drop at least two games this year. (USC & another game)

Good points. I thought they were overrated last year all season long, and the bowl game solidified that belief. Maybe they'll better represent the Pac-10 this year--who knows.

I think they believed their Rodgers/Arrington hype way too much last year. This season, I think they know they have to prove they are good each week, because on paper they aren't nearly as good, and I think that attitude adjustment has served them well. I still think they lose 2, maybe 3, but a 9-2 year this year would be a very good accomplishment on their part, and would indicate that they are still a very good team.

Arrington ran for 2000+ yards. That's not hype, bro.
