Brutus Buckeye Wins National Mascot of the Year Honors

Everyone’s favorite Buckeye is coming back to Columbus with some hardware.

Brutus Buckeye emerged as the D1A Mascot National Champion at the UCA & UDA National Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Just wondering do mascots get NIL money when they appear in commercials?

I'm guessing that the school gets a nice check which is a tax write off for the company; and school just pays the guy/girl in the mascot costume his/her expenses (i.e. travel, hotel, and meals, etc.) to go to the filming secessions. Cheerleading is an actual course at Ohio State which earn the participants credit hours toward graduation. The mascots appearing in commercials could be under the umbrella of "lab work" for the course. There are at least 3 or 4 guys that are Brutus Buckeye each year. It's probably an up front requirement that they know about when they tryout for Brutus; however, even if it isn't, I'm sure that they can find one of them more than willing to do the commercials, etc.
