Shows how lucrative becoming a state Senator is, when you have a “lifetime contract” as HC of a basketball program…lolz.
He’s gonna make a solid politician tho……right in his wheelhouse (understand I’m not debating his actual politics….but Bruce Pearl is good for sound bites and has spent years developing lockerrroms).

When a guy makes me feel like I need to go take a shower after just seeing him on my t.v. screen, well, that tells me he has the right stuff to be a great politician.

I was thinking this morning that this really reminds me of Tony Bennett at Virginia putting the school in a bind due to him leaving the program so late (Bennett left UVA in mid-October). It didn't really work out for Virginia and the program obviously didn't name the interim a permanent coach.
Same goes with Pat Knight replacing Bob at Texas Tech (it didn't work out and Pat ended up at Lamar and now NAIA Marian).
You'd hope Auburn has a full search and I believe they will (Scheyer at Duke is really the best-case scenario for Auburn and succession...but that's Duke and this is Auburn).

I knew he was hired.
I'm assuming he's going to get fired and Auburn will eat four years of his contract after this season.
