Browns RB. battle

For any Browns fans out there, you got an opinion on the rb battle? I personally was on the Willie Green side until I saw them both run against the Lions saturday. Suggs just looks unreal with his cutbacks and has the speed to take it to the house when he hits the corner.

I haven't been able to watch any of the pre-season games. Is Suggs visibly quicker / faster than Green? I'd really like to see Suggs and Green both go off for 1,000 a la Mack and Byner in 87 or whenever it was. Green looks a little bigger in person, but only in height. I'm not sure how much bigger green plays when he hits the line. Hopefully, it won't matter with Smith blowing people out of the way for either of them. I really think if they are close, it would be best to have them split time and stay fresh ... so I guess I'm pulling for both of em.

I think having two guys that can do the job is a major plus. I was on Green's side as well prior to camp but following the Buffalo scrimmage and Saturday's win...I say the job is Suggs' to lose. It's a shame, because now we're overpaying a #2 back. I see Willie getting 10-15 carries a game if he can keep his YPG up. I would like to see Suggs get a full load. The real key to the running game this year is Smith. Having a FB is going to work wonders!

The huge difference definitely is Smith, Oilerbuck. Total agreeance there.

I want Green to be the better guy (he's signed longer, he's a bit more durable and he was a first round draft pick), but Suggs is amazing. His speed isn't out of this world, but his vision is and that helps him break runs all the time. Looked GREAT on Saturday.

My prediction for stats:

Suggs: 17 carries, 75 yards, .75 TDs (season: 272 carries, 1200 yards, 12 TDs)
Green: 12 carries, 50 yards, .375 TDs (season: 192 carries, 800 yards, 6 TDs)

That'd be AWESOME. It might be a bit high but I can see it happening.

Suggs looked very good..

He ran with athourity, and determination. I watched him play at Vtech. He has skills. Willie(Dopeman)Green didn't run very well. He did the same thing that he did last year at the beginning of the season: running with his head down. Green runs to the outside and doesn't have the speed to make it around the corner like Suggs does. Green overrated, Suggs isn't! Suggs will be your feature back, period.

Gotta go with Suggs...he's been consistent and can break the big one, which surprises me. I think he'll win the battle comfortably, and Green will be traded this year or next.

Suggs got something like 10 yards a pop - no way he gets that in the regular season. I still can't believe we cut KJ in favor of keeping WG, big mistake IMO..

I don't think we cut KJ in order to keep William Green. I think KJ was cut to prove that no player was above the team and that Butch was boss.

• RB Lee Suggs, Browns: Logic tells you that if the starting running back job in Cleveland boils down to a toss-up between incumbent William Green and Suggs, Green will get the nod. Why? Because with Green showing real progress in terms of his comeback from last year's substance abuse suspension, the Browns don't want to give him any reason to get discouraged and slip back into old habits.

But Suggs is making head coach Butch Davis' call a difficult one. He's averaging 7.9 yards per carry -- 87 yards on 11 attempts -- and has two touchdowns. His strong showing in a scrimmage against Buffalo (five carries for 82 yards) is another check in his column. Suggs looks more explosive than Green, but whoever starts, look for both backs to see plenty of action in Cleveland's revived run game

I gotta go with Suggs right now, he runs well and no off the field stuff.
