His first pre-season game he went 14-30 for over 200 yards and looked great. 14-30 looks laughable, but then count the SEVEN dropped balls.
He looked pretty good the entire pre-season with exception to game 4 where he threw a couple picks. I think he's a better player than Anderson or Quinn at this point. Stronger arm than Brady, more mobility than either, and an amazing ability to get players behind him and trust him. Hell, even after a quick start last year by Baltimore, Terrelle Suggs was still calling for Troy to get the start over Flacco. They named the Troy Smith package the Suggs' package after Suggs went off on wanting Troy to get more PT and possibly start.
But I understand your main theme. This team DOES need a franchise QB, and Troy probably isn't it. But you make him sound like grabage at the NFL level, which is far from the truth. Cam Cameron is even on record as saying he thinks Troy could be a solid starter elsewhere and a hidden gem.

Anderson wasn't that great but he might've had a chance to be better if the playcalling were a little better. How many drives were started running straight up the middle? How many times did they try a little play action? The predictability makes me long for the days where they'd at least run a toss play to the FB just to make the other team say "WTF" once in a while.

This team needs a deep threat that can hold onto the ball. They need a few receivers at least, to be honest, or a quality play making receiver and a TE like before.
