Ohio State Offers 2019 Florida Quarterback Brian Maurer
Last night following his performance at Ohio State’s Friday Night Lights, 3-star quarterback Brian Maurer (West Port HS/Ocala, Florida) did not yet know if he had done enough to earn an offer from Urban Meyer. After a meeting with Meyer Saturday morning, however, he was given the good news.
Maurer (6-3 180) is the No. 18 pro-style quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class, and now holds offers from the likes of OSU, Tennessee, West Virginia, Indiana, Pitt, and Texas A&M.
Friday was his first time visiting Ohio State and he liked what he saw.
“First time at Ohio State. Great experience,” he said last night. “Coach Meyer, Coach Day, they do a great job recruiting. You can see why Ohio State is one of the top schools in the nation. Academics, they do a good job here. Obviously, football they do a good job here as well. Ohio State is just a great feeling and a great place to be.”
Speaking with reporters Friday night, Maurer wasn’t sure if an offer would be coming, but he was confident that he played as well as he could have, giving himself the best chance to earn what he came for.
“I think I did phenomenal,” he said. “I threw a couple of bad balls. I threw a couple of great balls. I got the approval from a lot of coaches, so I think it’s going great here.”
He did say that if the OSU offer came, it would change things dramatically for him.
“It would definitely be a great impact on my recruitment,” he said. “I’m about to release my top five. If Ohio State offers me, they’ll be in the top five. If they don’t, I’ll have to exclude them out of the top five. Ultimately, I want them to offer.”
