Who cares? He's a mediocre quarterback now with a diminishing skill set. Would we get this bent out of shape if the Vikings signed Vinny Testeverde?

Would it even be covered if Testaverde signed with the Vikings? I think that's part of the point.

Vinny would have to un-retire and retire at least 4 more times before I'd start bitching about it.

I love e!spn. Now that they have Farve, a bunch of their talking heads say that they're now favorites in the NFC. Um, did anybody watch him play last season?

That's funnier than hell, because they were downplaying the fuck out of his potential impact last night on NFL countdown when they thought it was all bullshit rumor. Gotta love ESPiN!!!1111!!!111ELEVENTY-CRAP!!1111!!

With or without #4, I count only about four teams in the NFC that I'm confident in saying the Vikings are definitely better than - Detroit, St. Louis, Seattle & San Francisco. There are a handful that I think are definitely better than Minnesota, and a bunch of teams right there with them that are gonna finish with 7, 8 or 9 wins.

Granted, the Vikings really only have to be better than three teams - the ones in their division. After that, anything can happen in the playoffs. I look at the Bears though - who finished a game back of them last year - they had a major deficiency at QB and went out and actually got somebody who's good as opposed to somebody who used to be good.

I'd add to that, or subtract, or whatever...Didn't they win the division last year? They were already better than those 3 teams. The purpose of adding Favre is they are supposedly "One QB away" from an annointment as SB champs. A 40-year-old who plays well about half the time is not the guy that is going to push them past the Giants, Cowboys, Eagles, Falcons, Panthers, or Cardinals. Hell, the Panthers are in the EXACT same boat, and I'd be hard pressed to say if I would take Favre or Delhomme in 2009. This move basically does nothing.

Well the Vikings already won the division last year and I'll take Favre over what they have. No reason they shouldn't get back again this year. If the Vikings are smart they'll only throw the ball about 15-20 times a game. The defense is good and running game should be great. If Favre can resist that urge to take too many chances and be more of a game manager, they've got as good a chance as anybody else in the NFC.

They were better last year. They might not be better this year, with or without Favre. Chicago made a bigger improvement at QB and Green Bay did a lot of things well enough last year to earn a better record than they did. I think the Vikings are gonna have a fight on their hands just to carry the division.

Agreed...if this is their big move, it is dwarfed by the Packers and Bears getting better.
