Bret Bielema (HC Illinois)

It's just another example of why recruiting is a tough game

Biff should have cut him loose sooner than he did. I have no problem with revoking the offer, just the delay before doing it.

That Biff...all class.

Must have a good FA QB lined up. Because, you now, Russell Wilsons just grown on trees.

Looks like the kid found a 'ship at Cinci....committed on Jan. 27th....

I guess Arkansas' loss is Cincy's gain.

Personally, I think that even though the previous coach made the commitment, by doing so he committed the university to providing a scholarship. That is, the coach should be considered a representative of the university that can bind the university to a contract. So, I think the university should have to at least hold up that end of the bargain, even if the athlete doesn't get to play for the team under the new coach. Compared to what schools are paying to buy out coaches contracts, they can well afford to cough up tuition and housing for the student after he is cut from the team.

You can't make a new coach honor offers of the old coach. That's the way it goes.

Is the university paying the coach to win games or to be a nice guy to his players?

The actual quote:
The reason the SEC is talked about all the time is one team, because of their dominance. But I didn't come here to play Alabama. I came here to beat Alabama.

You can take Saban's record when he was at Michigan State and when he was a coach in the Big Ten and put it against mine, and he can't compare.

Make it personal for Saban, that's a really great plan Bret.

I think it may be time for me to grab some popcorn and watch some Arkansas games this year, because...

So glad this guy is out of our conference. I will certainly miss the opportunity to shut him up every year, but if he wants to sign his own death sentence, by all means feel free to do so, Bret. 'Bama has never been shy to run the score up on Arkansas, so he'd better be prepared to eat his words if worst comes to worst. If anything, at the least the guy has some balls. That's got to count for something right ?
